- Indi singhWolverhampton, United Kingdom5 contributionsJust a good day tripI decided to go on a day out with my family (Wife and 4yo). It was a pleasant short journey whilst being transported in a time warp locomotive! It was a great experience to discover what train journeys were like back before electric trains.Visited August 2022Traveled with familyWritten May 27, 2023
- Debra_from_HullWilmslow, United Kingdom12 contributionsBe a Guard for the day! This is a review for the Guard experience, something I’ve never seen for sale at other heritage railways. I’d had to cancel at short notice because my partner had broken his ankle. This was no problem to Richard who happily rescheduled it. This was one of my best days out in a long time. On arrival I got a full safety briefing from Barry, our Guard for the day. This included where to safely cross the rail tracks and an understanding of ‘refuge areas’. I had a few trips on the line blowing the whistle, waving the flag etc which was just wonderful. I then went with John the TTI (travelling ticket inspector). As a 56 year old woman, I can’t tell you how satisfying it was clipping those tickets! We stopped for lunch at a local cafe and once the driver’s invited me into the cab for a ride! They didn’t have to do this but it really added to my day. We finished with myself and my friends who’d come with me on the miniature railway. At only £1 a trip this was fantastic value for money. Prior to the trip I’d planned on volunteering at the heritage railway nearest to me. I just wish this one was closer. Absolutely everyone here is a volunteer and whether you volunteer or spend your money here, you’re helping keep the line going. Everyone was so friendly and just wanted me to have a great day.Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten August 21, 2023
- Debbie TShropshire, United Kingdom4 contributionsFantasticThis is probably the best thing that we do over Xmas, we have been bringing my grandaughter since she was 1 so this is out third year. Anyone who is debating going or thinks it’s expensive I can assure you it’s a fantastic experience for both adults and children and well worth the money. The staff from when you arrive until you leave are spot on, interacting with everyone, involving the children in everything and look so happy to be doing it. Well done to everyone will be back next year xVisited November 2023Traveled with familyWritten November 29, 2023

Arrived and a bus took us straight to the station, had some really delicious food there loaded chips and a couple of waffles. There was toppings galore on everything! Ate in the entertainment tent that was very engaging for the audience. Great show. Bought some hats and a blanket, had my own little conductors! The station was so well dressed, sleeping hobo, snow machine, lights and sounds were brilliant. Story starts before even get on the train. The show on the train was absolutely stunning, from start to finish, every character was so engaging. Every child AND adult got engaged. The hot choc and cookies were amazing. Conductor Henry was brilliant and the chefs made the journey unforgettable. Then at the souvenir shop we bought the best train I’ve ever seen! A miniature version of the polar express that has Tom Hanks shouting from it! Tbh the WHOLE experience was absolutely amazing. This was our first time attending but really cannot recommend highly enough.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 9, 2023

The costumes, the singing and interaction was brilliant. Can not fault it. Arriving one hour was abit premature as there’s not a lot to do other than buying drinks/snacks but it’s still very good. Chef Logan was particularly interactive with us. Highly recommend this event.Visited December 2023Traveled with friendsWritten December 11, 2023

- May W1 contributionPolar express experienceWe went on the polar express experience on the 19th December 2023 and we couldn't fault a thing! We took our two children aged 2 and 3 and we were amazed at how magical this experience was! Everything from the chefs catering to our needs, the hot chocolate, dancing and singing and even meeting santa to get our own bells, we were so happy with. Free shuttle bus from the free parking area was so handy. We all got a free gift bag which included ceramic polar express mugs which were lovely. Our kids really enjoyed the whole experience, we would recommend it to everyone. Special shout out to our chef Gaby, she was so attentive, engaged well with our children and made the whole journey fun.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 20, 2023

We had the most amazing footplate experience and afternoon on the Telford Steam Railway. Richard was super helpful from the booking process to being there on the day to guide us to where we needed to be. This really is a little hidden gem, super friendly volunteers all ready with a smile and to answer any questions. Salt of the earth cafe serving butties, burgers, jackets and snacks for really reasonable prices and a picnic area if you want to take a bite to eat with you. Model railway is fab to explore. It's a small place, perfect for families with small children, just enough of a train ride to enjoy it but not too much so they become impatient and at a reasonable price. You leave this place with a really warm feeling, the people there really care about it and it shows. We'll definitely be back.

Everyone was so friendly and just wanted me to have a great day.

Everyone does, but no one gets off. You stop at it but it isn't a village to get off and explore.
Can I ask when the tickets become available? I really want to book for 2019 and I know it sells out really fast.

We’re planning to release them in the spring. We won’t be sending emails or making any social media announcements so please check the website regularly. We want to avoid 16,000 people trying to access our system at once.

Yes definitely do wear your pj's and dressing gowns, everyone is encouraged to and when we went I would say 80% of people did wear their pj's.

What price are the tickets please for both big and small people? Thanks
Tracey D
Dunstable, UK20 contributions
We paid £36 per person, little people pay the same as adult's. We paid for the upgrade as you get a shopping bag and a mug (1 mug per person but 1 bag per group).
I think it was £28 per person with out the mugs ect. Baby's on laps go free.
