About
Celebrating their 30th birthday, Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom has taken a huge step and relaunched as Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World. With over 100 species of animals, 15 animatronic dinosaurs and activities taking place all day Hoo Zoo really is a fun day out whatever the age. Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World launched back in 1991 as Hoo Farm Country Park and over the past 30 years has become one of the midlands premier attractions - even winning National Farm Park of the year along the way. In 2004 the farm became a licensed zoo and hasn’t looked back. Now the zoo is home to not just sheep, cows, pigs and horses but other zoo favourites such as Meerkats, Lemurs, Servals, Caracal and even Wolves. Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World is extremely passionate about conservation with a strong message throughout the zoo of conservation through education. This is put across through the fun informative meet and greets that take place but also the renowned animal experiences (advanced booking essential).

- skindeep32London, United Kingdom81 contributionsAmazing!I took my mother to the Meerkat experience which was just amazing! We have the 2pm slot on Monday the 20th 2023. The lady that educated us on the Meerkats was very knowledgeable and informative, friendly and welcoming. The pens for the animals are in desperate need of updating for their enrichment of such and the coffee shop was closed due to refurbishment so we didn’t hang around too long afterward. A great day for kids and a great Meerkat experience for adults.Thank you for your review, we're really pleased you enjoyed your visit to us and have passed your thanks on to your keeper. We hope to see you again soon. - ecogardener2016Kidderminster, United Kingdom19 contributionsLovely day outMeerkat experience - what fun even at our age. Fantastic feeding the animals who were happy to eat from your hand and jump all over you. The weather stayed fine although the grounds had suffered from the recent rain. However, it did not deter from a leisurely walk around the zoo after playing with the meerkats. All the animals looked well cared for albeit somewhat sleepy, they did perk up at meal time. Procupines and artic wolves, birds of every colour and noisy peacocks showing off their tail feathers. Just a magical experience for us near 80 year olds.Thank you for your review, we're really pleased you enjoyed your visit to us and have passed your thanks on to all the team. - Louise W1 contributionExcellent day out with animalsI did a meerkat experience, would highly recommend!!! got to go in with the meerkats and hand feed them while they were on my knee. Staff were so friendly & helpful. Once experience was over got plenty of free time to explore and see the other animals & birds.Thank you for your review, we're really pleased you enjoyed your visit to us and have passed your thanks on to your keeper. - Kiran1 contributionGreat day out for the familyWe had a party for my son’s 5th Birthday. From the moment I made an enquiry it was smooth process, the team communicated well and sent me information. Enquires were dealt with promptly. My son and his friends all had a great day. The ages ranged from 1-16. The children got to learn about different animals and had the opportunity to touch 5 animals (and a baby t-Rex) and ask questions which were answered. All the staff were brilliant and very helpful. The highlight for the kids was being free in the playground!! The playground catered to every age range. The trampoline was enjoyed by the kids and the adults. It was very difficult to get them to leave the play area. I had messages following the party from all who attended saying how much they enjoyed it and how much fun they had and everyone else had. Birthday boy had the best day and is still smiling. I would highly recommend Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World. KiranHi Kiran, thank you for your review. I'm really pleased you enjoyed your sons party with us. We look forward to seeing you all again soon. - Sean R5 contributionsTremendous FunSuch fun. These guys do an amazing job rescuing animals that have been either poorly treated or were inappropriately kept as pets. The lemur, serval and meerkat experience was brilliant and the staff member (whose name I’m sorry I can’t remember) was extremely knowledgeable. I thoroughly recommend it, particularly for children who want to learn more about animals.Thank you for your review, we're really pleased you enjoyed your visit to us and have passed your thanks on to your keeper. - Victoria H1 contributionJunior keeper half day and great day outA fantastic experience with the half day junior keeper experience. Really patient keeper, happy to work with you to make sure you are comfortable. Both children had an amazing time, thank you. We then had a great time on the playpark and exploring the animals. Only negative was the lack of cafe though there were hot dogs, limited sandwiches and pies available in the shop. There are plenty of spaces to eat in and outside though if you bring your own food.Thank you for your review, we're really pleased you enjoyed your visit to us and have passed your thanks on to your keeper. - Helen B1 contributionLoved the lemurs!Visited for an experience - up close with lemurs, meerkats and a serval. Paid a discounted rate for the experience - a full price of £145 would have been rubbish value for money. Feeding the lemurs was the absolute highlight! We would have liked to spend more time with them, rather than seeing the single serval who slept in his bed while we stood around and looked at him (I compare this to the experience we had at the Big Cat Sanctuary, where we were in a pen with 15-20 of them). Meerkats were also fun, but the lemurs had spoiled us re interactivity! The zoo in general is easy to get around and on the cold, rainy day of our visit was fairly quiet.Thank you for your review, we're really pleased you enjoyed your visit to us and have passed your thanks on to your keeper. - karen128 contributionsfab day would definitely returnHavnt been to this place in at least 10 years cant believe how much its changed ! we had a great day !! large selection of animals to see and it was fantastic to see the wolves having never seen one before in my entire life !! just amazing such beautiful animals. my daughter is cat mad so she was in her element with the amount of diff breeds of cats here.also it was actually nice to see the meerkat in a decent sized enclosure most are tiny ! so we'll done all the animals looked well cared for and the feeding time staff talk was very informative, glad to hear that most were rescue animals.rather than just purposely bred to be gawped at.my 20 month old granddaughter loved the whole day especially the dinosaur forest walk her reactions and the look on her face when she saw these dinosaurs was hilarious !!! unfortunately due to our visit being mid week in march meant the lemur enclosure was closed and there was no pony rides etc on so we definitely need to return at a weekend in the summer months. 10/10 from us very good value for money and would highly recommendThank you for your review, we're really pleased you enjoyed your visit to us and have passed your thanks on to all the staff. - Richard SHayling Island, United Kingdom24 contributionsCarnivore experienceWent with a friend to a carnivore experience purchased through Virgin. Really enjoyed handling the python and skunk. Unfortunately couldn't handle the owl due to the bird flu. Feeding the Arctic foxes with (dead) small chicks was good and getting up close to the Serval was awesome, what a stunning cat. Grace was very informative at all times and obviously enjoys what she is doing. Would recommend this but make sure you check for any vouchers, could save a lot of money.Thank you for your review, we're really pleased you enjoyed your visit to us and have passed your thanks on to Grace. My son and I visited Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World in Telford UK recently, the keeper Sarah was amazing! She spoke to the keeper doing the Carnivore Experience (Jody) and my son got to feed a red fox by hand! The Arctic foxes were much more sociable but wow, just wow! What a day 😍 (sorry if the foxes dinner offends)

The Meerkat & Lemur feeding experience was amazing, well worth the visit - would highly recommend.
Paths very very muddy in places making some areas inaccessible but other than that an enjoyable day out.

Excellent place and especially worth it if you book a mini zoo keeper experience. The staff are so friendly amd helpful. The experience itself is so much more than I was expecting. Really hands on with the animals. Plenty of places to eat, and plenty of areas set up to play too. Food decently priced and very good quality. Definitely recommend and would definitely go again.

Hoo zoo is one of our favourite places to go. There's plenty to see and do there. I bought my son the junior half day experience for his christmas present and we finally got round to using it yesterday. He went in with his dad while I paid for normal entrance to watch them. I was able to see them the whole time and got some brilliant pictures. They had an amazing time, the lemurs came out top of the favourite list, but there wasn't a bad part of the experience. The keeper was brilliant, coped with some interesting questions and comments from the kids really well. She couldn't get the snake to come out but brought a hedgehog instead. I would definitely recommend this experience. It doesn't look a long time on paper, but so much is packed in without feeling rushed, everyone was done by the end of it, while it still being fully positive. Any longer and I think the children would have got overwhelmed and struggled. We've been looking for another experience closer to the grandparents and are struggling to find something as good. So much hands on interaction with the animals.

We did the lemur, meerkat and serval experience for two people. Absolutely brilliant. Sadly the serval slept the whole time we were there so couldn’t meet him properly but the meerkats had babies and were so much fun to handle and play with. The lemurs jumped all over us and were extremely friendly. Brilliant time. Also had a walk around the rest of the zoo and it was lovely seeing all the animals. Food was hot, freshly made and reasonably priced also. All staff we met were friendly and chatty. Absolutely would do it again.

Myself & my partner had the meerkat experience (given as a birthday present) and it was amazing! The babies were absolutely adorable, and it was topped off by seeing raccoons which are my favourite animal, and I didn’t know they were here - absolutely loved that two were called Ricky and Bianca!! Our guide, Sarah, was very informative and lovely, very chatty and answered any questions we had. She also took photos for us which we appreciate. Not only her but the woman on the front desk with the wonderful dyed hair, was so friendly from the moment we entered until we were leaving the park - she even said to us that at winter when the zoo is open later for Christmas, you often see the raccoons more, so we will certainly be back soon!! Worth the 3+ hour journey it took for us to get here.

Didn't see any when we were there, and there are a lot of roaming cats, so your dog might not appreciate a visit there.

I've read that oaths are gravel and tricky for wheelchairs. What does everyone think? Is it that bad for. Chairs? Thanks

Hi Sherpa51048291493,
We've tested different wheelchairs on site and some areas are difficult, however most pathways are possible as the gravel is now very compacted.
If possible we recommend using wheelchairs with larger wheels.
Kind Regards

I appreciate you asked this question quite a while ago but yes, this is a great place for a 2 year old. I would suggest keeping your toddler close though, as it is a working farm and tractors and workers to go by with machinery etc.

2 if us (party of 4) want to do the meerkat experience, 2 are a little scared. Woul they be allowed to come with us and take pictures for us? And of course pay to go around the farm?

one part if the meerkat experience was inside so they probably wouldn't be allowed to go inside there but the other is in a outdoor enclosure they would be able to watch and take pictures of that part for sure x
