Museum with potential - but apparently with no money. Interesting collection - unfortunately it needs serious refreshing. Art gallery - mostly some kind of playground for kids or empty walls... Worth visiting if you're first time in Paisley, but nothing more.

The volunteer guide at Weaver's Cottage in Kilbarchon suggested this museum would offer an interesting comparison to see how factory weaving differed from in-home weaving. We had some time to kill before our flight out of Glasgow Airport so took a short detour to see...More

This is a complete disaster. The art gallery is closed, and the rets of the museum is in an advanced stage of decay. The so-called 'Paisley shawl' gallery is gloomy, ill-informed (nothing about how Paisley deigns were taken from India), and on the day we...More

This is a smallish museum, but with a good set of collections covering everything from art, to natural history, to archaeology, to history. The sections aren't all that large, with each theme mostly covered in a display cabinet or two. It's worth mentioning that the...More

Went to see Monarch of the Glen, but disappointed in poor presentation and lack of context. I would recommend waiting until it returns to Edinburgh. Museum has a descent textile section but little else. Shop has Paisley scarves made in China.

Visited the observatory as an outing for graduate women Scotland (GWS). Matt was a great guide and his knowledge and enthusiasm were key to the success of the tour

Visited the museum as friend had visited as a boy. Wanted to see if the stuffed elephant was still there. Sadly it wasn't but a rather motheaten lion resided upstairs. Interesting artefacts and history of museum. Also allowed a tour of the observatory. Closing soon...More

Sorry I have just been sent your email and it's after 6pm and it will be closed now. Don't know why it has taken so long, been online all day too.
