We really liked this bookshop. It was staffed by volunteers. The book selection was great. The staff great, and the prices really great.

Good selection of cakes. Pleasant staff. The Cafe overlooks the lock and benefits from both indoor and outdoor door seating.

Free car park for guests.

Highly recommended!

Wide selection of books at very reasonable prices.

Staff were very friendly and happy to assist and to 'pass the time of day'.

Over 2 days I bought 4 cookery books that I had not seen before.

I stayed at Fishers Hotel which is a 2 minute walk away from the shop.

I will be back any time I an in the vicinity.

Currently on holiday in the local area and finished reading my book last night (a bargain from Cancer Research in Peterhead) so took it along to donate and then spent some time browsing for a new book.

I plumped for a Catherine Cookson but there was a huge range of books available. Fantastic idea at a time when many 'chain' charity shops limit the book donations they will accept

Many many titles to be had in all types of books and sections.
Generally £1 unless marked otherwise, but I got a fantastic gardening book big thick and never read for £2, but still a fantastic bargain.
My wife and I bought more than a few books and the monies paid all go to charity.
Unpaid volunteer staff are all very helpful, polite and add to this unique and charming bookshop which is a truly wonderful place to visit.
Will go again when back in Pitlochry

Books generally cost £1. An amazing range of titles. Coffee. Seats. Lovely volunteers. Unusual books, not just bestselling paperbacks. Picked a dozen and could easily have doubled that. Ohh temptation!

Thank you for your review. I'm glad you have enjoyed your visit and it's so easy to buy 12 books when the prices are so good. Hope you will be able to come again sometime. Oh, our charities thank you too.

With too much time to kill before visiting the theatre at 2pm, I sauntered along to the station and was pleased - nay, delighted - to find this little shop. With so many books in stock, one may expect a bit of a jumble, but no, everything is very well presented. Lots of books for children along with specialist titles for grown-ups.

The lady in charge on that day was very pleasant and helpful, and even directed me - and several other visitors - to the Hydro Exhibition Centre which I'd never heard of.

I was determined to avoid making a purchase as I am needing to rid my home of stuff, but on leaving, a book on the outer shelf caught my eye. What better to buy in a railway station than "The Railway Detective"? The story starts in London a mere 12 years prior to the opening of Pitlochry Station, so I was in my element, almost hearing the hissing steam, smelling the smoke and listening to the clip-clop of hansom cabs!

In mint condition, I had to add a bit extra to the £1 requested... and I loved the bonus - a free bookmark. So thank you, Bookshop. Keep up the good work!

Even if you're not travelling by train you should make an effort to visit this book shop on Platform 1 at Pitlochry Station. It's a treasure trove packed with a wonderful range of books many of which are only £1.00. There's an extensive Scottish section and a wide range of reading of all descriptions. It's worth taking time to browse the packed shelves as there's bound to be a wee gem that catches your eye. The volunteer staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and all the proceeds go to local charities. There's also a coffee machine!

Thanks for your review, MIchael. We do appreciate it. Our £1 books have brought us income of a quarter of a million pounds, so far, and every penny has gone to our charities. Thanks for spreading the news and I hope that you can visit at another time in the future. Best wishes to you, Brian

We visit every time we come to Pitlochry and stock up and pass on good condition paperbacks and hardbacks. The paperbacks are £1 each - the charity shops are more expensive! The staff are friendly and helpful and it supports excellent charities. Well worth a visit - leave with some excellent, up to date books and keep supporting their charities!

Thanks for your review with an apology for not responding when you submitted it. I'm glad you enjoy your visits. All those donations and £1 purchases have allowed us to reach a total of a quarter of a million pounds as of last week. Thanks.
