Hands down, the best Scotland (Alba) experience!
James was our private guide and is the owner of Alba Experiences. He is extremely knowledgeable and you can tell his love of his country through his stories and history he shared through out the trip. Attention to detail was top notch!
This tour was the perfect way to end our trip to Scotland: and a dram of whiskey was the only way to say farewell, but we will be back. My only regret was not booking them for all of our tours in this beautiful country.

Wow, we knew we were getting a real “Alba” experience, when James showed up in kilt and authentic Scottish attire! James was very accommodating and taught us many things along our drive. We learned about the Scottish Highlands; the history, the tragic past, as well as about the native animals and plants. I especially loved meeting and feeding the Highland Coo! So very cute! Along our drive, we passed by many woolly sheep and beautiful flowers draped along the green rolling hillside. The many lochs with the “dragon’s breath” clouds drifting above, were majestic! We stopped at Loch Lubnaig to enjoy a dram of Scottish Whiskey along the banks. There, we learned about tartans and how to wear a Scottish kilt. It was fun learning about the traditions and culture!
I really enjoyed the many castles on our tour. We saw Castle Stalker, a 1300’s tower home, surrounded by a moat; St. Conan’s Kirk, 1800’s; Kilchurn Castle; and Inverary Castle, just to make a few.
I highly recommend this tour if you want the true Alba experience. James was fantastic!

I've just returned from an amazing trip with James at Alba Experiences. James is not only extremely knowledgeable about his homeland of Scotland he also exudes a passion for making sure his clients have had a meaningful experience. Paying close attention to detail and making sure that all the clients needs are met. James does this with a passion and enthusiasm that makes the trip superb, in fact this was my second time in 6 months and I'm already thinking about trip number three!

My parents and I took my grandma (the world’s biggest Outlander fan!) to Scotland for her 85th birthday in March. We had originally booked a two-day Outlander tour from Edinburgh with another bespoke, private tour company, but our guide unfortunately had an accident the day before our tour and was unable to fully lead us. We were afraid that the tour would be canceled and that our trip wouldn’t be the same, but then our guide gave his friend James of Alba Experiences a call to see if he could jump in on his behalf. We could not be more grateful to James for stepping in (and for Andy the Highlander for the introduction!) to give us a truly wonderful and unforgettable experience around Edinburgh and the Scottish countryside. While his vast knowledge for all things Outlander was obviously incredible (I mean, he is an extra on the show after all!), it was his deep-rooted passion for his country that we will remember the most. From a relaxing stop at Preston Mill where he lended us some professional photography trips, to sharing a dram together atop a stunning castle, we enjoyed every single minute of our tour with James. So much so that we’re already in touch with him about making a Scottish return in 2024! Thank you, James and Alba Experiences for an unforgettable trip!

We had a blast with James as our guide. My wife and I had a brief March ‘23 weekend in Scotland and James’ insightful and tailored tour made it a rewarding experience. The scenery and landmarks he shared were remarkable, and he added to our tour as we got to know one another (added a stop at an SAS memorial he thought we’d enjoy after discussing mutual interests).
Perhaps most impressive was his knowledge of, and passion for, Scottish history. Having an informed and thoughtful guide made the day trip our vacation highlight. As an added benefit, James used his local knowledge to avoid the crowds and get us the best views.
Overall, Alba Experiences’ customer service, comfortable van, and kind staff were a welcome addition to our vacation.
We’ve already recommended them to family planning a fall trip and will use them again in the future.

My mum and I are from Australia and had a short time in Scotland so we decided to go on the hunt for a tour. We wanted to see a lot in a little amount of time so we chose the one day trip with James at Alba Experiences. Not a single regret and worth every minute and every $$
It was just mum, myself and James and we really got to experience Scotland in depth due to James and his knowledge and passion for his homeland.
We had never ending information and so much history, there wasn't a question he couldn't answer and it was the highlight of our trip.
We booked direct through the Alba Experience website.
We both 100% recommend this or any other tour with James and I would not hesitate to book with him again when we no doubt return to our favourite country, Scotland :-)
