At street level, Edinburgh is a peaceful and pretty city—but the subterranean tunnels below tell an entirely different story. On this ghostly walking tour, explore historic sites including Greyfriars Kirkyard and St. Giles’ Cathedral with your enthusiastic guide, and hear chilling tales of murder and revenge. Delve down into underground caverns normally closed to the public, and learn of Edinburgh’s grim and gruesome past.

Located within Edinburgh Castle and included in the castle admission ticket. There was a small que to get in due to covid restrictions The young girl Monitoring que was very good chatting and engaging with those waiting to go in especially the young kids. Once in there was lots of very good displays of the military history of scotland through the last few hundred years. Information on the history all three services in Scotland. If you are visiting Edinburgh Castle make time for tis museum it is well worth a visit.

Traces the history of the Scottish military. So much to see that several visits would be recommended. Well presented displays that allows you to see the development of warfare for Scottish troops. May need to queue to get in at present as numbers are controlled.

We visited the Scottish National War Museum in March, just before lockdown. The museum is situated within Edinburgh Castle so entry is included in the Castle admission ticket price. It is an interesting and well laid out museum and chronicles Scottish military history with informative displays including flags, medals, uniforms, field guns and weapons throughout military history. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

The Scottish National War Museum tells the story of the Scottish military during wars troughout the years from the middle ages to the current wars. There are a lot of displays with original uniforms, weapons, flags, medals, and so on. There are a lot of storyboards that explain step by step all about the naval, air and land armies. You can easily wander around for an hour or longer. As it is inside the Edinburgh Castle area, you don't need to pay an extra fine.
