On the edge of a housing estate, this church stands magnificently despite being in ruins, it covers a vast area and truly is breathtaking, visiting at dusk made it especially appealing

This place is well enough signposted from the A76 through Dumfries. You have to trust that you are on track once in the state but you will find it well worth the search. It is not a paid entry site and so is too open to certain people. When we got there the grass was being mown and was not especially unkempt or untidy. Worth seeking out.

We were passing by when we thought we would go and have a look at Lincluden Abbey. It's a lovely building, but it does need some care. Unfortunately it has been graffitied upon and cans have been found on the ground. I did bring this up with Historic Environment of Scotland and they say there are plans for improving the area. So fingers crossed! I'd love to see the information panels replaced too as when I did research online, there is a fascinating history behind the building and the tomb too.

We spotted this while driving through Dumfries. Interesting place but a little unloved. All boards with explanation gone but history easily available on the web.

A very interesting historical site. Well worth a visit. Parking is on street or on the small gravel gateway right next to the site. Sadly, the local youngsters seem to use the building as a hang out at night and have lit fires against the walls in a few places causing soot contamination. Unstaffed with no amenities.
