Well priced, handy parking. Engaged and enthusiastic tour guide. Well restored ship. Plenty for adults and children alike - I took my 5 yr old and he loved it!

Absolutely disgusted, have an annual ticket and used to visit regularly many to get a coffee in the cafe. We drove to do this on a wet Sunday only to be turned around in the rain and told they were only doing guided tours and cafe was open after the tour. We saw no advertising of this online and wasted fuel and time going to be turned around. What a pathetic and stupid idea to stop people from coming on board to spend money with a ticket they bought originally thinking they could use it for a year. Complaint going in. Also if you have mobility issues there is a fare walk from the car park as they haven’t bothered to put an entrance where the car park is!! You have to go across a bridge with wood on it that is very dangerous for stick users as the stick slips!! Tore ticket up and will NEVER go back

Excellent visit to a WWI warship. A great combination of original 1916 fixtures, restored fixtures and interactive devices for the younger generation. Lots of information on the men who sailed and fought the ship and their living conditions. Don't think I would have liked hammocks. Seemed like access to all parts of the ship from the engine room with the original turbines to the living quarters, to the bridge and to the fighting stations. Great introductory video/audio on the Battle of Jutland, very moving at times. Very friendly staff and pleasant mess for a coffee and hot dog.

Royal Navy’s sole survivor of The Battle of Jutland this battleship has been restored to become a floating museum. It was a fantastic place to visit and the museum audio guides were easy to use and extremely informative. There are 3 lifts allowing the disabled visitors to access most of the ship. No rushing around you take it at your own pace

Definitely worth the modest admission charges to look round the only surviving warship from the battle of Jutland in 1916.
The ship is located at the bottom end of the historic dockyard walk and has only recently reopened after the pandemic. It also looked like the museum had performed some restoration on it whilst closed as the ship was very well presented.
It was easy to get around the vessel and to follow the 'push to hear' audio buttons. There are also lifts installed for those who may struggle with the steepness of some the ships steps.
There are some excellent interactive displays, for young and old - I quite liked the 'try your hand at breaking the code' one. Disaster!
There is a nice cafeteria also on board serving good food. I enjoyed sitting in the old mess hall on the lower deck. Unusual location for a welcome coffee and cake. The staff were very friendly and helpful as well.
Not overpriced at all and definitely worth a look round.

This was a last minute idea but it turned out to be such a great day. The work that has been done makes this museum one of best I have been to, plus tickets valid for year so can go back again. Every level of ship just gave so much detail. Staff from reception throughout very pleasant. A fascinating journey back in time .

This is the last remaining ship from the world's largest naval battle, WW 1's Battle of Jutland. The audio guide brings the ship to life. It should be experienced by more people. It is only a short walk from Titanic Experience

Having previously visited the HMS Belfast, a WW2 Town-class light cruiser in London, and having had an excellent time, I was quite excited to relive the experience on the HMS Caroline while visiting Belfast. We arrived around 11 am and received a friendly welcome from the man at the desk, who provided us with audio guides. We chose to visit on a Saturday, expecting it to be somewhat busy; however, to our surprise, it was relatively quiet. This meant that throughout our visit, we had pretty much the run of the ship to ourselves.
Before exploring the ship, there was a small museum dedicated to the history and restoration of the ship. Afterward, we boarded and watched a short, well-acted video covering the Battle of Jutland. Exploring the ship was made easy with the audio guides, and the restoration and recreation to a working WW1 ship has been done very well. There were plenty of fun, interactive, and educational points, and it seems like they’ve made a real effort to cater to less mobile people as well. We spent a good while here, and despite the weather turning against us, we had a great time and purchased a couple of souvenirs. I would absolutely recommend the HMS Caroline.

Visited HMS Caroline with a group. It was so interesting with the ship set out as it would have been in the First World War. Audio guides give you lots of information and really easy to use. Some interactive bits for the kids too. We had some people who had mobility issues but they have lifts to make nearly all the ship accessible. Cafe on board. Highly recommended.

Hi, is this suitable for the kids?

I think that kids would find the ship quite underwhelming. There is only really one exhibit, the rest of the tour is simply the actual ship - which if you are into older ships is great. Unless you've time to spare, I wouldn't bother with it.

Hi, Can you say how far they are apart / how long does it take to walk? Regards, stephen.
Hi Stephen, thank you for your query. HMS Caroline is located in the heart of Belfast's Titanic Quarter. We are a ten-minute walk from Titanic Belfast, visitors simply walk along the Maritime Mile which is very scenic. If you were to drive it would take approximately two minutes. Thanks

Yes I'm nearly sure it does, the audio is excellent for an in depth understanding of the ship but your family would still love the experience if French is not available. Enjoy your visit in my opinion it's very worthwhile.

Thinking of bringing my father who is in his eightys and although he drives etc is a little slow & not wonderful on small stairs etc Is the ship totally unsuitable for someone with mild mobility issues?Think he would love the atmosphere etc but reluctant incase he is embarrassed at being slow going up & down steps etc if there is a crowd behind him.
Thanks
Heather.
Hi Heather, thank you for your query, HMS Caroline is the most accessible historic ship in the UK, we have lifts to all the decks on the visitor route so the ship is very accessible. We also have a newly refurbished car park with disabled parking that you are most welcome to use!

Belfast, UK1 contribution
There are many places to eat in the Titanic Quarter. Firstly, we have the Mess Deck Cafe on board HMS Caroline, with a range of refreshing snacks, drinks and lunch options including Irish Stew and Soups. There is also a free car park located along side the ship.
Next door is Cafe 1404 located in the Titanic Dock & Pump House. There is also the Cast & Crew restaurant located near the Titanic Exhibition Centre, as well as food places in the exhibition centre as well. Alternatively there is the Dock Cafe just slightly further down which is an honesty cafe

I don't know if this is appropriate to ask, but, i am interested in HMS Caroline because my Grandfather was a Petty Officer serving on her during the Battle of Jutland and i wondered if there are any personnel lists available for viewing on the ship - i am visiting next week possibly on the 5th July! Good afternoon Nancy,
Unfortunately at this time, there is not a Personnel list on board HMS Caroline. However, if you would like to get in contact via our email we do have a list in relation to the Battle of Jutland that we can check for you.
Many thanks,

I would like to take my elderly (91 yrs) Uncle to see HMS Caroline but I am concerned about access. He is fairly fir but I would worry about climbing. Can you please advise if visit to Caroline would be worthwhile?
Gemma M
Belfast, UK1 contribution
Good afternoon Alexandra!
As our lovely visitors have already answered, HMS Caroline is the most accessible ship in the UK.
There are lifts located throughout the ship, allowing access to most areas, including the lower mess and cabins, the upper fo'c's'le and the cafe and gift shop. 2 main sections are not currently accessible with the lifts (the navigation bridge and engine room) however, the Virtual Access suite allows you to virtually explore many elements that HMS Caroline has to offer.
Also we would suggest to customers with additional mobility requirements to come 60 minutes either side of high tide as the gangway can become steep as the tide rises. Tide Times can be accessed through the Belfast Harbour website. And please be aware that the narrowest door on the ship is 64cm.
We hope you enjoy your visit
