Great cocktail in a lovely atmosphere
Popped in for a pre dinner drink. Wish we’d found this place earlier in our trip. Really lovely. Very good well made cocktail served in a friendly attentive yet relaxed atmosphere.

    Food and drinks fab
Has dinner with the three course set price ie £95 for 3 courses for 2 people and bottle of wine. Food was amazing, the flavours and presentation. Every course was beautiful and dessert of baked Alaska was best I’ve ever had. Service was good and felt well looked after. Jazz band/singer were playing and it added atmosphere. My only small issue is that I’m not sure why they put us at a table right beside the band given there were others free.

    Outstanding
Service is outstanding. Friendly and professional. Cocktails are yummy. The singer called 'kerion' (think that's how it's spelt) is a must see. Dreamy with amazing vocals and talented piano player.

    Excellent dining experience
Just wanted to leave a quick review of our fantastic experience that we had yesterday in this wonderful restaurant. I had booked Berts Jazz Bar to celebrate my sons graduation. My wife, 2 sons and I were greeted on our arrival by Louise and shown to our booth table. The ambience in this classy restaurant i would describe as relaxing. It had comfortable seating, low lighting and jazz music playing in the background. Unfortunately the live group didn’t start playing until eight so I wasn’t able to hear them but the background jazz music was nice and at a decent level where one could converse without raising our voices. Louise was a fantastic host, I couldn’t praise her enough. She was very attentive to us but not overbearing and she ensured everything was in place for each course. She ensured the different courses were efficiently cleared and served, as well as keeping our glasses filled with drinks. She had a good knowledge of the menu and was able to advise accordingly. Our group had the scallop skewers and the arancini for starters and both were absolutely fabulous. They were full of flavour and cooked to perfection. My wife and I shared the chateaubriand which was done perfectly for our own individual levels of doneness. It was accompanied with sides of salad, frites, onions, mushrooms and 2 sauces. We both thoroughly enjoyed it and there was more than enough to satisfy a big eater, which I am. My two sons had the lamb and the ribeye steak and both of them raved about the quality and taste. Only room for two desserts for our group. Both the ginger & lemon ice cream and the panna cotta were greatly praised. A lovely touch from Louise was a small dessert medley with a congratulations message iced on the plate and given to my son. A lovely touch to end what I can only describe as a very memorable meal which is what I was hoping for. Top marks to the chef and top marks to Louise and the waiting staff. Keep up the excellent work.

Transported to the elegance and decadence of 1920s jazz bar
My daughter is a saxophone player and we wanted to see some live jazz while we were visiting Northern Ireland. I booked Bert's just on the basis of the music but it was so much more. The venue itself feels like a 1920s New York jazz bar. Whoever did the interior design deserves and award. The cocktail list was sumptuous and our Manhattan and Daiquiri were mixed to perfection. We had a great table with a good view of the trio playing. They were great. And the food, from a short but perfect menu, was fantastic and great value. All of this with such friendly, elegant, well-informed and helpful serving staff made it an evening to remember

    No place better n Belfast
Excellent music, excellent food and most of all, excellent service. Really couldn’t have been happier with the service when we were out celebrating our anniversary. The music on a Monday night was fantastic - why wouldn’t you want to have some superb music whilst enjoying an evening out.

Bert’s is worth a visit if you like Jazz!
Bert’s jazz bar is located at the gorgeous Merchant Hotel in the centre of Belfast. The hotel recommended Bert’s. It did not disappoint, we only went for drinks but was given a table right near the front and service was as good. So we’re the cocktails. Friendly staff. From what I could see of the food being served it looked nice. The ambience was chilled. Bert’s has live jazz through the week and it was a Sunday night visit which was busy and had fabulous music so we went again Monday and Tuesday, It was an intimate, cosy and casually sophisticated setting.Perfect for us to relax after our celebratory 25th anniversary meal.Highly recommend!

    A lovely evening!
My husband and I had been given a voucher for Bert's Jazz Bar from our children. We'd never been before and didn't know what to expect. We were absolutely delighted with our experience there. The setting was lovely - jazz music playing in the background and very comfortable seating. The food was served in good time and was delicious. It was served to us by two outstanding staff - Lorcan and Rose. They could not have been more helpful and were just lovely. The manager too came to check that everything was good for us and he too was really helpful. What a lovely evening. Thank you to all who made this a special and memorable evening for us.

    Lovely. Great staff
A great venue with wonderful staff. Celia is very new to working here and was wonderful. She is a credit to the venue. The chap with the beard on the bar is possibly one of the best cocktail bar person we have come across.

    10/10 for Jane!
One of the best meals we’ve had! We enjoyed the duck parfait, French onion soup, and shared a chateaubriand which was cooked to perfection. A great selection of sides. The cocktails were fab, especially the grasshopper with dessert! We loved that we were offered a booth once one became available. Jane’s service was absolutely excellent, she’s very attentive with great knowledge of the menu/recommendations. We can’t wait to come back.

Brilliant jazz band but the food was mediocre, the beef wasn’t very good nor were the muscles, chartreuse board was nice.

Second visit to Bert's Good Friday 2024.
First was a Sunday afternoon, back start of Feb, the cocktails were truly devine then, best Porn Star Martinis I've tasted, ever! Just one mixologist behind the bar, the drinks were well worth the wait.
Sadly disappointed this time. Even with extra staff, the cocktails were disappointing, all fruit juice & aromatics & very little alcohol.
My daughter, ordered a French 74 which I tasted & loved, but the French 74 I received next round was all lemon juice, it bore little resemblance to hers, apart from the morello cherry in the bottom.
We had 3 cocktails each, all no better than the last, which came to, with the 10% built in service charge, @ £100. Didn't want to complain in front of my daughter, as she kindly brought me out as a belated mother's day treat, after I had raved to her how wonderful Bert's cocktails were.
Didn't want to appear ungrateful & spoil our night out, but felt bad for her as the experience was all a bit of a disappointment.
Not sure I'll be back.
Colleague in work visited the same Easter weekend & is of the same opinion.

We went to this jazz bar where the food was terrible, the cocktails were small and had little alcohol. At the table next to us, a couple ordered martinis which came in small glasses, not martini glasses. I overheard the man complaining about the poor quality. I would not recommend ordering martinis or cocktails at this place. The maître d' was unfriendly, but the service was decent. The only redeeming quality was the singer, who played good jazz music.
Food was ok but not fabulous
Later, four friends and I went to the bar upstairs. The cocktails were expensive and very small.

Absolutely awful experience, food was overpriced and horrible. Also charged £10 per person because they had a live band on that night. Wouldn’t recommend this establishment if your looking for a nice night out unless your willing to spend a lot of money on average service

Very enjoyable evening. Food was delicious. Staff are very friendly but have to say the service was a little on the slow side which was a little frustrating at times.
The atmosphere was fantastic and really enjoyed, would highly recommend

Fabulous as always! Thank you, Bert’s, for another fantastic New Year’s Eve. Food was delicious, not to mention the jazz & atmosphere. Can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be.

We visited for dinner and the 8pm jazz show on a Sunday evening, and had a super time. Starters of duck parfait and halloumi salad were delicious, the sharing chateaubriand for main was excellent, and the dessert cocktails were great. Beautiful wine selection. The jazz band with Kyron Bourke was exceptional, Kyron's voice was so smoky deep and the musicians were class. Service was extremely good, our server Louise was very friendly and attentive, as was the manager (a gent from Portugal, we didn't catch his name). They were kind enough to acknowledge my birthday with a complimentary sweet treat. Atmosphere is buzzy yet intimate - great for date night. We loved our time here and can't wait to return.

Very disappointed, myself and a work Colleague were refused entry to the establishment due to me wearing Cargo trousers ,The manager was very young and unprofessional , It was quite ironic that we were able so go into the hotel bar to enjoy Cocktails and my dress code and money were acceptable there.

Very poor
