About
At the centre of Donegall Square proudly stands City Hall; the civic headquarters of Belfast City Council. City Hall is open to the public 7 days a week. It is a multi-purpose venue hosting a large number of events in its large functions rooms or outdoors on the beautiful lawns. Daily tours of the building allow visitors to admire the superb art collection, formal rooms such as the Council Chamber and Great Hall while its opulent interiors are lit by a stunning collection of stained glass windows. Guests can relax and refresh in the Bobbin Coffee Shop or pick up souvenirs in the Gift Shop. A 16 room visitor exhibition explores the history of the city through themed and interactive displays. City Hall grounds are the primary green space in Belfast City Centre and host continental markets and open air concerts. The grounds feature a number of statues and memorials relating to Belfast’s leading figures and historic past, including the Titanic Memorial Garden.

A fascinating exhibition showing the growth of the City of Belfast from earliest days, through linen production and rope making to one of the greatest centres of shipbuilding in the 19th and 20th centuries, The tour of the main rooms and council chamber is also worth taking. Both exhibition and tour are completely free.

Belfast City Hall is a proud memorial to the city of Belfast. It is built in a beautiful neo-classical style. Distinguished citizens of Ulster are commemorated. The tour is certainly worthwhile, and you can get a good cup of coffee and cake after you complete your inspection. Belfast City Hall is part of the history of Northern Ireland.

The exhibition currently in the city hall is 15 intertwining rooms of Irish history and should not be missed. We enjoyed learning about the culture and history of the place, as well as admiring the beautiful building. Outside is a memorial to titanic and beautiful grounds to sit and have a coffee in. Very peaceful given it is bang in the middle of town, surrounded by shops and buses etc

We discovered that it’s possible to take a brief tour around the city hall with a guide.
Just visit the hall, put your names down for a time that suits.
We had ‘David’ to show us around.
He was excellent. Very informative, very knowledgeable and kept everyone amused and interested.
Highly recommended.

Very interesting review of Belfast history and the politics of the city. The displays gave just enough information to give an insight and overview without information overload. Worth an hour if your time and it’s free too. Shame the cafe and souvenir outlet was closed on our Sunday visit.

We visited the Town hall on a recent to Belfast. The building externally and internally is absolutely stunning! Worth a visit just to see the building. We were to late for the guided tour so will definitely be back for that.
There are amazing displays of the history of Belfast that is free to walk through, there are also toilets and a cafe that has friendly staff.
There is a Titanic memorial on the within the grounds which is worth a walk around.

Beautiful Building... Must atleast walk around the outside. The Titanic Memorial is located on the grounds of the city hall. If you have the time to stop by, you must go in. Right in back of the 16 exhibit rooms you can visit, there's a nice cafe. The food smelled so good. We are going to eat there next time we are in Belfast.

Visited today. One day trip to Belfast. We decided to follow the 16 room tour. It was really interesting and I learnt a lot about how the city has developed and the people behind it's development. I really enjoyed the experience and would recommend it. Great to see Norman Whiteside, who I've met, profiled in the exhibition. The staff at reception were lovely and really welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended.

Please explain in more detail the guided tour free, I found nothing on the site about it. What are the timetables? Meeting point? Where do recently?
