    Best In Northern Ireland!
Very popular for a reason. Great atmosphere, huge selection of beverages, and very nice service. We were here on the day of the Belfast Marathon, so extra busy. The bar keeps managed everyone well, but the locals are so kind to make sure everyone gets their turn at the bar. Outside seating is also available. Thanks for a good time in a wonderful place!

    Big and Fun
Great lively bar in the Cathedral area, it probably is packed every time it is open. Felt sorry for the Irish band playing in the corner who were drowned out by the drinkers. Another pub with over the top ambiance, it’s one of my favorites. Alas, no food.

recommended to visit mid-week and during the day, as CRAZY busy on a saturday night!
The Duke of York is highly recommended as a traditional Irish bar with live music and a friendly atmosphere. There are rooms full of memorabilia and every wall is busily decorated. The drinks on offer are mostly beers and whiskeys. Located in the busiest area in Belfast known as "Cathedral Quarter" so we knew it would be busy when we visited early one saturday night, however we were not prepared for how absolutely jam packed it was!! People were buying drinks and standing out in the alley/small street "Umbrella Street" it was that packed! So you couldn't even walk up Umbrella Street as too many people standing around with drinks, shoulder to shoulder! The Duke of York is notorious and high on the list for tourists to visit, but be warned we couldn't get anywhere near this pub on a weekend night. So we recommended to visit mid-week and during the day if you actually want to get a seat inside, have a drink and a look around and hear yourself think! (yes we are nearly 40 now and like to visit a pub to have a 'conversation' over drinks! haha)

Lovely traditional pub with a great atmosphere and nice drinks
Stopped in for a quick drink and stayed for an afternoon. It was a lovely atmosphere and the drinks were quality. Bit pricey but it is Belfast city centre. The staff were friendly enough and we sat in “the office” which was a lovely private space. Left before any music started but it looks like it would be fun

Amazing atmosphere but couldn’t get to the bar!
Recommended by another local party goer in a nearby bar about 9:30pm on a Saturday night. The street it’s in set the atmosphere - neon umbrellas hanging, neon rain sign arc, live music and people spilling out of the pub - punters dancing and laughing in the street outside of the pub. We attempted to enter the pub but it was jam packed so we chose not to get a drink and soak up the lively atmosphere. We stayed for a few dances in the street then made our way home. NB toilet block is in the building opposite the pub!

Initially looked to be a welcoming pub and managed to get seats on a busy Sunday afternoon, then things went downhill after my brother in law who's birthday we were celebrating went to use the bathroom for a no. 2. One of the bar staff acused him of snorting cocain because he said he could hear sniffles and had been a while in the cubicle, when he said he had been having a no. 2 and does not do drugs he was told he that he would have to leave. My brother in law returns to our table and tells the story which we thought he was just joking as he is 62 with 3 grown up kids and very anti drugs. We told the table beside us what had happened and just continued on with our drinks. The barman then came over with a security lady and asked us all to leave and acused my brother in law of taking drugs which we all challenged in regards what was his qualification n evidence to back up this claim to which he replied it was his decision and that was it, we all are 56 onwards, parents n non drug users. The barmen went and the lady said we could finish our drinks but had to leave she was professional dealing with things and we drank up and left but my brother in laws was upset he was acused of something he had not done and it put a cloud on the rest of the evening. In finishing I would like to say it's good you have a no drugs policy but the bar staff could do with relevant training to identify and deal with things professionally and not just asume, I personally was uneasy after that using any public toilet making sure I tried not to sniffle even though with the weather we all had runny noses. I would not be recommending this pub in future

We discovered this beautiful pub in a small side street.

Very nicely decorated, lots of beers and lots of whiskey on offer. It might take some time to try everything. Definitely a clear recommendation when visiting Belfast.

Around the corner is a whiskey shop where you can also buy many of the whiskeys from there.

Great place to have a drink--if you can find a seat. Very crowded the night we went and people were filling the street outside. Fortunately we found a table inside and as happened everywhere in Northern Ireland people started chatting to us straight away--great evening
