About
The Lyric Theatre is Northern Ireland's full-time producing theatre. The new theatre opened in May 2011 to great critical acclaim. The award winning building is built in traditional Belfast red brick, glass and iroko wood and the cafe bar offer beautiful views over the River Lagan and Stranmillis Embankment. The theatre is open seven days a week with performances usually running in the evenings from Tuesday through to Saturday and matinees on Saturday and Sundays. Contact our box office for more details or check online under "What's On". Our cafe serves coffee/tea and light lunches and is open every day. As well theatrical productions, we also offer backstage tours, a programme of theatre school and professional learning and corporate hospitality. Free Wifi is availble

'New Ireland' was the funniest thing I've ever seen. Absolutely their best show so far!
The Lyric is a lovely place.
Drinks are dear but not 'need a mortgage dear'.

Excellent as always Druid staging of Juno and the Paycock. Fine theatre with very good sound, a spacious bar and pre-theatre area, and very friendly staff

Went to see Juno and the Paycock. Excellent only slightly spoiled by all the patrons who got up thinking it was the interval and decided to head to the bar. Only to have to be turned back by the staff.

After 4 years, mostly due to covid, we came back to our favourite little theatre to see a wonderful production, Anne Boleyn, in the Naughten Studio.

The highly talented young cast portrayed the story of the rise and fall of Henry VIII's unfortunate wife, with several of the cast playing more than one part. The story was seen through the eyes of James I and was played with pace and comedy, creating a highly enjoyable 2 hours.

We have seen many productions in the main theatre and love the closeness and intimacy that it creates, however the Naughten Studio is almost like a 'theatre in the round'.

Nice facility. Not a bad seat in the house. Only problem is that it’s a bit outside the city center. Likely not walking distance from your hotel… and NI cabs can be tough to come by.

Show was fantastic, (Grimes & McKee Christmas show, venue staff fantastic, limited range of drinks to be fair, but theatre was perfect for this extremely funny show by two of Northern Irelands best comics

Visited in a group of two adults and two small children to see The Snow Queen. We went on a Tuesday evening, the show wasn't full so the venue felt very relaxed. The performance was fabulous, small but hugely talented cast - the children were captivated! We met some of the performers in the foyer when we were leaving, they were warm and friendly to the children and it absolutely made their night to meet Gerda! I really like the layout of the seating in this theatre - if you have to leave, as we did, during the performance with small children to use the toilet, you can do this with little disruption and there is an accessible toilet right outside the door so you don't have to miss a lot of the show. The theatre itself was clean, plenty of staff, staff were friendly, minimal queuing at the bar, venue has lots of seating and toilets. The coffee machine was broken but they were still offering filter coffee which was perfectly fine. Pricing is in line with what you can expect at theatre venues.
