The cafe at Pets Corner in Jesmond Dene is a huge disappointment. It lacks any atmosphere, despite being in a beautiful building. The whole place looks and feels like a third rate work canteen. Drinks are served in disposable cups, the coffee is undrinkable and they dont even attempt to cater for gluten free or any other dietary concerns. A huge shame, the place is popular with families , students and dog walkers all year round. It deserves much better than this.

I visited here for a little walk with my mother, father and sister on our way back home from our staycation in Newcastle. It was a nice autumnal walk, and we enjoyed seeing the waterfall and the animals in the petting zoo. It wasn't THE most spectacular place I have ever visited - it seemed a little neglected with lots of run down buildings etc. The cafe was a little disappointing. I had a hot chocolate which scored a worrying 2 out of 10.
Overall, though, well worth a visit as it was a pleasant walk.

Parking is easy and was plentiful, some areas would not be inaccessible for wheelchairs- more toilets would be good.
Now the important stuff this place is a beautiful haven of trees and water - five mins here and you feel like you can breathe again. Wonderfully maintained, plenty of areas to interest all the family - a fantastic place.
The woman server at the Urban cafe near the boat lake serves a fab hot chocolate and chai tea and is just lovely. The main cafe wasn’t quite as friendly or efficient but was ok.
If we lived closer we’d definitely become friends of Jesmond Dene.

Having spent a very enjoyable day exploring the city of Newcastle, we used TripAdvisor's AI to suggest 'hidden gems' to us. This was one of them. A beautiful garden, tucked away just on the outskirts of the city centre. Unfortunately, we arrived too late for the small zoo, which had shut by the time we arrived (around 04.30 pm). However, that did not spoil our enjoyment of the gardens, which featured a waterfall and a disused mill. Lots of colour in the garden, including rhododendrons in full bloom. And it was free entry! Thoroughly recommended.

Very rude staff on 06/08/2023. She was disrespectful and claimed it’s her family business. Well if it’s her family business, she should have a better attitude towards customers.
I asked for decaf coffee so she was going to serve a a Nescafé sachet without asking me, I saw her open the sachet and I wasn’t happy about it, I said it’s not the same thing as freshly ground brewed coffee, she argued it’s the same and that’s the only decaf they have, but why would you charge customers a lot for just instant coffee! This is almost dishonest also not worth it! If you want to serve instant coffee at least let your customers know about it then they can decide. At the end she said if you don’t want it, you don’t have to have it!

from the water wheel to the water falls, Right bang in the centre of the city this natural wonder is just perfect. Tons of wildlife, wonderful trees and long established plants, Pets corner, and up the bank to the lovely Paddy Freemans Park, or the famous Armstrong Bridge in the other direction. Gloriously beautiful.

Fantastic walks for the location so close to the city centre (20 minutes). There are lots of fully tarmaced paths all over the area with access to the old mill and the waterfall. Also the pets corner is reopening slowly, fantastic value for only a small donation.

We came here during a stay in Newcastle, based on the reviews from here.
We were not disappointed. Thankfully it was a gorgeous sunny Autumn day, we got the metro from Newcastle station to Jesmond, & then it was approx a 15 minute walk.
We visited the cafe & had a pit stop with a coffee.
Pets corner was lovely, rabbits, goats & birds. The park is huge & very well looked after, you could walk miles. It’s very popular with dog walkers & joggers.
We saw the waterfall, well worth the search for it. Certainly got my steps up!!
Lovely walk in the Autumn sun. Highly recommended.

What a lovely surprise! Such a lovely break from the city. It was a very tranquil and scenic place and a great walk up and down the river. We thought it would be busy but we came twice in a week and there were only a few dog walkers around. Would definitely recommend while visiting the city.

A good area for running - wide and clearly marked paths (plus toilets!). Parking available. The main entrances have maps showing the key sites. The park includes "Pets Corner" which is free to enter and worth a stroll through.

We were staying in the Best Western New Kent hotel on Osborne Road. It was a 5 minute walk down Lindisfarne Road to get to the Park. We only covered a fraction of it though!
