St Mary's is a big church with some interesting stained glass windows and what looks like medieval wall painting on panels. The carved font is also interesting and has a brief description alongside it.

It was raining on the day we went but I could spend hours wondering the old cemetery if it had been nice out. The church itself is a short stop but it's right in the center of town so worth the visit. The entrance on...More

Well worth popping in to see the building, stained glass windows and historical monuments. Good to sit and contemplate and there is a little chapel on the right at the front if you want to be really quiet. There are often concerts by local choirs...More

Anglican Church of some standing. Central to town life, especially for civic ceremonies and rites of passage, St Mary's is a delightful medieval church with a friendly congregation and Rector. A very popular church especially on special occasions.

This is my own parish church, so I am biassed. The clerical staff are really very good, the fabric is in good repair, services are well attended and the atmosphere is welcoming without being over the top. Annoyances - not enough use of the Prayer...More

Beautiful historic church at the top of the Main Street area. The stained glass windows are so vibrant and they light up the white interior on a sunny day. We called in to view and spoke to very friendly church staff eager to share history.

An ancient, very tall stone tower, a mediaeval font with carvings that survived the civil war, strangely moving epitaphs from the early seventeenth century (Shakespeare's time, the time of the Authorised Version of the bible), a beautiful churchyard set in a dip (come in down...More
