This is now a free to enter English Heritage site, consequently there are no additional facilities like guide books or toilets. Despite that it is well worth a visit, but beware of the potholes as you drive down to the small car parking area. The...More

There is very limited parking here and as others have mentioned, and the road getting to it has a lot of potholes so drive carefully. The Abbey itself is glorious and we were very surprised that a site of this size was free. It looks...More

We stumbled upon this place quite by accident.....followed a brown sighn, and found this gem. Limited parking, but we were the only people there. So special and privileged to have this place all to ourselves. If you love history and places with ‘that feel’, then...More

A very nice place to visit and see, bit of a hidden gem, very nice old ruins and even a place to eat and have a picnic, very historical and free with parking.

We spent about an hour going around these lovely ruins. It is a free attraction and doesn't appear to be staffed. There are plenty of information boards around the site which are very helpful in helping you to imagine what it must have looked like....More

We stopped here for a walk around the very atmospheric ruins, all the more of interest to me because my recent genealogical researches revealed that several of my distant ancestors were buried here. We were even able to enjoy a cup of tea before resuming...More

Vehicle access to this site is difficult via a restricted junction and a very potted track. Unfortunately English Heritage has abandoned the site office, small museum, shop and toilets. Visitors are restricted to the historic description English directory. No guide book is available and the...More

It is a beautiful ruined castle, with information about the different areas and how they were used. It took about 20 minutes to look round, and then we went for a walk in some of the beautiful surrounding countryside. Better on a sunny day!
