St Laurence's founded in the late 11th century mainly dates from the 15th century. The choir stalls in the chancel have marvellous carved misericords and the church also has impressive stained glass windows, some associated with the Palmers Guild. The view of Ludlow from the...More

St Laurence's is one of the largest churches in England (we were told) but it feels peaceful and pleasant. It's great both for a quiet prayer and meditation and for a sit-down with a cuppa, as there's a little cafe inside the church itself. Your...More

Walking through Ludlow, it was easy to find St Laurence's church through the narrow back street which gave it a medieval feel. Enchanting church which seemed to have an almost cathedral status, very special indeed and worthy of an hours visit. Pews have been removed...More

If you like old church this is one not to be missed. More like a mini cathedral. Fab view from tower. Prince Arthur’s heart is buried there and the alter piece has not been knocked about which is unusual.

Large and ornate church set back behind High Street along passageways. Friendly volunteers will answer any questions you have. Small shop with basic refreshment facilities, interesting history behind this building as well as unusual carillon bells that play a tune several times a day. Peaceful...More

This is a church which repays constant revisiting. There is so much to see. This time I was concentrating on the stained glass. Plenty of Medieval Glass left, and some great Victorian glass and later. But there is also excellent architecture, woodwork, memorials, and historical...More

Beautiful church. They took care to present both history and the witness, work and worship. We spent a good time in the building viewing the windows and other items and chatting to a couple of delightful church members.

Touring churches of Shropshire became something I started doing by accident, this was a very happy accident to discover. Ancient and beautiful, lying in the side streets, it's almost like traveling back in time.
