I had some spare time to explore Northampton after a meeting at the University. Sadly, the Cultural Quarter appeared to be closed, apart from 78 Derngate. The Museum and Gallery is apparently undergoing refurbishment and extension and the Contemporary Art Gallery opposite was also closed. Posters referred to exhibitions in places outside the town centre, for which I did not have time. Disappointing.....…

The Museum and Art Gallery has been closed for the last couple of years whilst they extend it into the building next door. This work was financed by the controversial sale of an Egyptian Statue. The work was subsequently delayed by the discovery of Asbestos and although it is due to reopen in 2020 no date appears to have been set at the time of writing.…

we used to regularly come to Northampton to go to this lovely museum but it has been closed for so long now. Why else would we come to Northampton .? very disappointing
