Enjoyed my visit to Sutton House. The display of various brick types in the cellar was interesting as was the rest of the house. Details and discoveries in various rooms were well selected. Paneled room was of particular interest. History of the house is extensive....More

Oldest house in Hackney and definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Free entry if you are a member of the National Trust. Wooden paneling on the ground floor is stunning

Very interesting seeing the way the house was built and the way people lived. All being it would have been rich people apart from the 80's squatters, also interesting they have made one of the rooms as it was in the 1980's. Inside and outside...More

Thanks to the volunteers and workers who were good to us when we visited. Three children between us who were very excited about the Elves and the Shoemaker activity and, especially, the sand pit and caravan even in fairly mixed weather. Although I think I...More

Nice historic house run by the National Trust. Outside in grounds there are some unusual things to explore such as a double height caravan. Nice cafe in courtyard to finish off. Don’t miss the model cars in the big steel gates to right of entrance

This is definitely the worse NT property that we have visited by far. Please don't come here, it is more like a community centre than a NT property. The volunteers are unhelpful and are far from the informative volunteers that you usually get at most...More

Sutton House is a National Trust property and is one of the oldest brick built houses in Hackney. Not too much inside but the actual building is ok enough for a 30 - 40 minute visit if you are interested in the Tudor period. I...More

I had only heard about this place a couple of days ago and was surprised to hear about a Tudor house so close to home. When I arrived, it took a few attempts to get in. You need to knock on the door. Despite the...More

Did not know what to expect in the middle of Hackney. Nice walk from the station, past an old churchyard and large Victorian houses. Sutton house is a gorgeous Tudor house. Staff very friendly and helpful, there is a serve yourself cafe and a little...More
