This listed structure is named as a commemoration of the Battle of Waterloo. An original bridge was constructed there and opened in 1817 and the replacement bridge was opened in 1942. In my opinion it is one of the best places to appreciate views of...More

Strolling across Waterloo Bridge is one of the great tourist treats. There are marvellous views east and west showing the City of London skyline, and the London Eye and Parliament. Sadly, The tower of Big Ben is clothed in scaffolding at present, so don’t be...More

Waterloo Bridge is yet another London bridge, of which there are plenty. In fact they are all needed in a city like London, particularly in this area over the Thames. This is not a particularly great bridge in terms of architectural or aesthetic value, but...More

Connecting two cultural centres, the South Bank on the south to Somerset House and thence to Covent Garden on the north, it is a modern bridge which is pretty busy with people crossing from one bank to the other, and now has barriers separating the...More

As everyone else says you get great London views from the bridge, but for me the best thing is the second hand book market underneath the South end of the bridge at the weekend, lots of books about virtually any subject you can choose, always...More

Fabulous to take pictures of many iconic London landmarks whilst crossing the bridge on foot. You can see buildings of old and new London right next to each other, stunning.

There are few better places to see the London skyline than from the middle of Waterloo bridge. Hope for a fine day. It's a selfie paradise. Do note however that people scurrying to work or the station can be impatient with groups of tourists blocking...More

This newish bridge was the inspiration for Ray Davies of The Kinks to pen Waterloo Subset. The view east over the City and towards Tower Bridge must be one of the best in the capital. In the summer months the sun rises on this side...More
