The venue itself is ok, has a balcony area and we had a fantastic view of the band from there. Staff were pleasant enough.
Was suppose to be a covid pass event but the staff just glanced at my phone, didn’t check it or scan it, could have had a barcode on for a tin of beans and they would never have known!!
But the main problem with this venue is the heat. I have never been to a gig where it has been so hot. There is no air at all, no air-con, no ventilation. It was roasting hot and I felt quite faint at one point. Even the singer commented on it and had to take his shirt off. This would put me off seeing another band at this venue. Especially in Covid times too when some air and ventilation is needed, so not good.

.omg I am disabled and just attended a gig at this venue. All the staff could not be anymore helpful than they were. They made my visit so much more pleasurable. So helpful and helpful. I can't say how helpful they were.

Absolutely livid. I bought 3 tickets to see Becky hill I waited 40 minutes to get a drink to get told there was no spirits and had to get bottled drinks (vk) what was not nice. Then my boyfriend went for a ciggy and the staff failed to give him a wrist band on his arrival which led to him not able to enter the concert again which led to all 3 of us all leaving. I am outraged.

Great location and great staff. I went to see Scouting for Girls with my grand-daughter and we had an excellent night. Unfortunately my wallet must have fallen out of my coat pocket when I had thrown it in the corner. Next morning I e-mailed and an hour later I had an e-mail back to say they had found it. Thank you for your prompt reply and for finding my wallet!

Went to see The Bon Jovi Experience whilst on a city break. Friendly helpful box office staff. Nice security guys.
Like the setting as we like to get close to the band, and the barrier is very close to the stage.
Unpretentious venue for a good rock concert.

We went watching the interrupters band at the academy.

The venue is great for an intimate gig, you can really get close to the band and the music quality is great.

Depending on the size of the gig there is one bar or two bars on. But queues aren’t that long.

Cloak room available, toilets and merchandise area.

Your three minutes walk from Liverpool line street station, so you can run for the last train.

Security on the front door and friendly staff around the venue.

I go to a lot of gigs in a lot of venues around the world. This place is a grotty warehouse with poorly trained staff, overpriced crap drinks, many steep slippery stairs. Seven of us went to the gig and enjoyed the music but the tiny single bar was not quick enough to keep up with the amount of punters - it was a midweek and not sold out so I doubt they function at all on a sold out weekend show. You need a can stall on the opposite side or something. Also they only do Pepsi max and don't offer any sugary soft drinks, just those with sweeteners in. And tetleys/hobgoblin is the closest you get to a real ale or a craft beer. Move with the times. Not being able to go to the loo with your pint is a good idea, contains the waste in one area, but if you're on your own and need to wee mid-pint you're stuck as staff don't let you out with a cup! Sound was well mixed though for all three bands. This venue will put me off coming back.

The sound was great. I've seen Endorphinmachine at the venue three times. I just dance all night but I do know there is none, or very limited seating. The bar is up a couple of steps and you could stay up there and look through to the stage if you had any issues with steps.

I didn't use the bathroom as I didnt want to miss any of the show so but I think its downstairs.

I was very hot in there (the only reason for the 4 stars) but I was dancing all night and not sure if there is aircon.

Can't comment on the drinks prices as just had water.

Staff we fine too and friendly at the door.

Steve Hillage band and support act Gong were incredible! The venue was dire. I'm heavily pregnant and when I got there I quickly realised that the only way to get to the stage was up 2 sets of very steep stairs. I asked a staff member if there was a lift. I was told no. After struggling up the 2 flights of stairs I discover that the toilets are downstairs. This should have been sign posted and the staff member should have told me before I went up. I held on for as long as I could then went down supported by my husband. On the way back up for the 2nd time I asked a different member of staff what do disabled people do. He said they dont come here. How discriminatory! When I finally made it back up I made the decision that I couldn't have another drink as I wouldn't be able to do the stairs again. The venue had no air con and was extremely hot. Also not a single seat in the whole venue. I almost sat on the floor after the ordeal of the stairs but didn't as I would have struggled to get back up. A little while later I saw a guy in a wheelchair. I asked him how he got up and he said the lift! I felt really let down by the staff members who were unwilling to help me when they could have let me use the lift. I wouldn't go to this venue again and would advise others to avoid too.

We have just watched bears den at the academy and to be honest, it was one of my least favourite venues. Maybe we are spoilt with the Albert hall but the academy is just a bit rubbish. The venue is far too warm (the bar staff agree) and it’s a bit mish mash in regards to the general viewing of the band. I personally won’t go again but that is only my opinion.
