Certain restrictions having been lifted the pumping station was open on a Thursday. Masks to be worn and hands sanitised. One way route to follow but it all was doable and we felt safe and thought about. We found it very interesting and it's 'free'! Would imagine it would be well worth a visit on special open days when the steam turbines are working.

Much better than the space centre, only trouble kids running riot spoiled the enjoyment but not the stations fault. Quite a few interesting exhibitions but its a shame the beam engine is rarely running as this would really improve the show and allow them to charge to see it.

On a very wet and windy day, we were looking for something indoors for a couple of hours and the Pump Museum didn't disappoint. Nice, friendly atmosphere. The main exhibit area was bright and well laid out into bite-sized sections - engines trams, sewage, cinematography, etc. with just enough information on each to explain. Interactive displays will entertain younger children (yes, and us, too!). The pump room is through a doorway, and rather took our breath away. We will definitely go back on a tour day when you can see more of the machinery. We didn't look around outside due to the weather but it is a handsome building and looks like a nice place to sit on a sunny day. On approach, we weren't sure where to park but if you drive in through the gate, the car park is round the back. Admission is free but when you can put a donation down the loo - well, you just have too!
