For our first walk in Keswick we took on Catbells Lakeland Walk. Pretty steep in places and if you're not fit then it could be a struggle. Well worth the view over Keswick and Derwent Water once you're up the top. Great scenery

Had a great walk/climb up Catbell, took about an hour or so to get up, was a bit more strenuous than we had thought but the 360 degree views on top are just sublime. Descent is easier ! I think there are a few ways...More

We had read that this was a fell for toddlers and grannies and we saw plenty examples of both on our way up. We personally found it to be fairly strenuous with a bit of tricky scrambling in parts. However the day was glorious and...More

My girlfriend and I got the boat from the Keswick launch and it took us 2 hours 20 minutes from getting off the boat to climb to the summit and back down. We are both young and physically fit so managed without any difficulty. There...More

This is a great walk from Keswick. If you have a head for heights be brave on approach to some of the steeper ascents, they look much worse from further away, up close they are not bad at all. Clear paths all the way up...More

With a mixed fitness group we split into two groups for our two hour walk on Catbells with some venturing up the, sometimes, very steep/scrambly path along the top ridge and others taking the path half way up that runs parallel to the ridge with...More

Two hours to the summit for a leisurely stroll with some scrambling required but the views are spectacular. The sun was shining and made for a pleasant walk. Probably be defined as a red run if you are skiing

It is a great walk around the lake. Quite, peaceful and especially when the weather is good. I feel like I am in Spian since the sun is so lovely and the lake is so blue...

Solo trek midweek would be absolutely fine - take the boat over from Keswick, check the boat times there and back. Lots at places to stay in Keswick (see Keswick tourist sites), not sure about where to stay in Buttermere... More
