We came back after spending our honeymoon here 40 years ago. It is still very pretty but the roads are so incredibly crowded now (though pothole free which was welcome!). In fact there were places we were unable to visit as we could not find...More

Walked around the lake on Sunday 9th September. Weather was lovely and the lake stunning. Beautiful houses or rather mansions in the hills surrounding the lake.

There is pleasant foothpath around the lake, that goes one part in the forrest and one part next to the road (around the village of Grasmere). If you are by car there are two main starting points (i.e. larger car parks). One is in village...More

Started at Rydal Mount and walked along the coffin route to Grasmere through the village then round the otherside of the lake and back to Rydal. Beautiful scenery and views across the lake and lovely easy 6 mile walk even the kids enjoyed it.

Beautiful lake , village and home to William Wordsworth and family. Walk to the village for scones and tea. A wonderful resting spot for an afternoon walk. Enjoy and take your time to catch up on your poetry!

Visit Grasmere. Loved the views and the town is cute. Boating is allowed and I am sure the fishing would be fantastic.

I have not actually been to Grasmere Lake, rather I visited the Grasmere village. The village is pleasant, quiet, and and good for a day off the city buzz away from the noise of the cities.

A lovely walk as there is a lakeside path with lots of areas to sit and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Paths are good and if the weather is warm take a 'dip' in the lake. We walked from Grasmere then carried on to Rydal Water,...More

The lake at Grasmere is simply stunning. It has a nice easy walk around the lake shore which starts from the white moss car park, or Grasmere centre. We chose to park at the white moss car park and walk across to visit the Rydal...More

Yes most of the path is accessible. I remember we had to cross a shallow stream on the beach bit but if you're ok with that it will be ok. There is a path through some woods which was decking type but you may need to carry... More

The Vale Rydal circular cycle route is about 12 miles, Grassmere also suitable. Classed for mountain bikes as it does have areas of rougher terrain. The area has gates to open and allow access. Some areas are steep. And... More
