Overview

Come aboard Hull's last sidewinder trawler the Arctic Corsair and let the crew take you on a guided tour (access is limited). You'll hear all about life at sea and the dangers deep sea trawlermen faced in the Icelandic fishing grounds. Our free guided tours are the only way to see inside the Arctic Corsair (please note restricted opening times on right). Before each tour starts you can watch a short 10 minute action film - Life at Sea - in the Arctic Corsair visitor centre (next to the Hull and East Riding Museum). You can also find out more about the Arctic Corsair at the museum, which is free to enter and you do not need to book.

Not much I can add to the many previous glowing reviews of this unmissable piece of maritime history. Expect a fascinating and thought provoking - but also often (blackly) humorous - hour or so looking around the trawler. Our excellent guide John frequently apologised for...More

Arctic Corsair As a frequent visitor to Hull I have often seen the Arctic Corsair when passing over Myton Bridge, promising myself I would visit the ship some day. Today was that day. I was expecting a fairly standard walk about the decks, with a...More

Great guide brought the trawler to life. Very real and not false, like some themed attractions. Worth noting the advice about flat shoes and ladders. The mini museum hosts a 10 minute film, invaluable. Also a sensitive but unsentimental memorial to men & boys lost...More

A slick guided tour of a former fishing vessel. The guide was well versed in his subject and despite his strong Yorkshire dialect was very entertaining telling all the bare facts about fishing , that is to what the trawler men went through to put...More

Don't miss the opportunity to visit the Arctic Corsair , the last deep sea trawler built(1960 !). You can find it in the Museum Quarter, Hull. The guided tour takes about an hour but the guides are so well informed they make every minute interesting....More

Do't miss the 10 minute film before the tour - a real insight into the conditions in the North Atlantic. The tour is excellent and the guide really lets you know what it was like working on these trawlers on a day to day basis....More

Very interesting to see the conditions the sailors had to live in with very little comfort and how hard they had to work .

What a great way to learn how our fish arrives in the fish shop. As told by men who sailed on her or other similar ships. Just amazing.
