Visited this area of Tunbridge Wells today on a warm sunny day. There was a market going on in the area which had brought a lot of people to the area. Very nice area to escape to, from the normal things of a modern town.

Originally known as the Parade, this is an area of the town that is about half a mile away from the town centre. It is a double terrace of shops lining the sides of a pedestrianised cobbled walkway. Most of the shops are rather expensive...More

The charm of The Pantiles is that it hasn't altered much during the many years I've been visiting. A wonderful mix of independent shops, tea and cake shops and restaurants, many with outside seating. Lots of atmosphere and if you're lucky, you'll find a band...More

As a local I can recommend a visit here. Basically it is the older part of the town and a couple of hundred metres long, containing one off shops and many eateries and coffee places. Lovely in summer sitting out in olde world surroundings. Various...More

In a sense it does not change, but the shops sometimes look tired and sometimes look interesting. I think they are improving. The new build next door may regenerate the area, or it may not. You could easily film a Georgian novel here without changing...More

The Pantiles has changed little since I lived there in the 1950s/60s. Shops might have changed what they sell but the character remains, enhanced by the colonnade. The cafes with their outdoor seating adds to the atmosphere of the place. The bandstand provided a platform...More
