The Pantiles is an area of 70+ independent stores offering a shopping experience uniquely suited to finding that special something and rarely found in other shopping centres. Almost entirely all owner-run there are a variety of specialist shops, art galleries, cafés, restaurants and bars each offering their own particular style of trading. Festivals involving Jazz, Food and Fashion are frequent along with fortnightly Farmers' and Craft Markets showcasing the best of the region's talent. Immerse yourself in the 400 year old history of the location brilliantly reflected in the elegant tree flanked colonnaded walkway. Summer months also present visitors with the opportunity to sample the waters of the Chalybeate (pronounced Ka-lee-bee-at) Spring whose discovery back in 1606 marked the beginning of Royal Tunbridge Wells.

As a local I can recommend a visit here. Basically it is the older part of the town and a couple of hundred metres long, containing one off shops and many eateries and coffee places. Lovely in summer sitting out in olde world surroundings. Various...More

In a sense it does not change, but the shops sometimes look tired and sometimes look interesting. I think they are improving. The new build next door may regenerate the area, or it may not. You could easily film a Georgian novel here without changing...More

The Pantiles has changed little since I lived there in the 1950s/60s. Shops might have changed what they sell but the character remains, enhanced by the colonnade. The cafes with their outdoor seating adds to the atmosphere of the place. The bandstand provided a platform...More

Just full of upper-middle class shop keepers running these shops as a hobby whilst hubbie brings in the bacon from the city or his significant share and buy to let portfolio. Jack Wills 4 staff no clients. Ridiculous kitchen shop 20% more than John Lewis...More

Gives you a Jane Austen feel. Galleried shops, lots of cafes ,bars and good restaurants. Nice jazz evenings Thursdays in the summer which are packed with people enjoying good food and just enjoying the music. Several times there are good food or antique style markets...More

Living just a short walk from this great Kentish attraction means we see it all the year round. The Jazz nights in the Summer, The year round markets, the quirky shops all make this a great destination venue. Stop off here for a great time,...More
