A lovely old church in a lovely village. The stories of the Roundheads and the Parliamentary troops is fascinating. Even more incredible is the story of the yew trees and the fact that it has been impossible to plant more than the 99 there.

This church is a very happy church to visit - my husband was fortunate and played the organ on 2 days and it was much appreciated by visitors

The yew trees in the churchyard (99 of them) are amazing, and the bells in the tower (14 of them) fascinating to learn about too. A lovely warm and airy church.

Lovely walk around the church and church yard. Yard and it’s yew trees are incredibly well kept - looks like something out of Harry Potter! Very lovely church with lots of history, well worth a visit. We were very happy to pop some money in...More

This is a lovely church set within a fantasticly interesting churchyard. Loved reading the plaques and inscriptions on the tombs. The church itself was also absorbing, with all the floor and wall memorial stones and a beautiful 17th century tomb sculpture of a man and...More

This is a quaint little town and the church is the highlight in terms of historical features. It is 'donation' to enter and has some interesting history. For all those who want to attend mass and take communion - if you are gluten intolerant -...More

My wife and I ended our Cotswolds Way walk in Painswick (we only did the northern half), and after dinner at a local pub, enjoyed a wonderful stroll through the beautiful graveyard around St. Mary's. The steeple glowed in the late-day sun, and the warmth...More

Went to view the numerous Yew Trees (nearly 100), all beautifully trimmed, but the church and Lych Gate are well worth seeing. There is a car park nearby costing 20p for an hour -can't get cheaper than that!
