The Corinium Museum is located at the heart of Cirencester the 'Capital of the Cotswolds'. Its principal collection consists of the highly significant finds from the Roman town of Corinium. However the museum today is much more than that, taking the visitor on a journey through time and charting the development of the Cotswolds from its prehistoric landscape to the modern day. The light and modern galleries offer the visitor an exceptional interactive experience. The museum is renowned for its learning provision, with an education centre and temporary exhibition space that ensure a vibrant, changing programme of events and activities for everyone to enjoy.

My friend and I visited this hidden gem which is inexpensive and is excellent for presenting the Roman heritage and history of Cirencester. The Roman mosaic displays are really spectacular and the presentation of many interesting historical artefacts is first-class. Well worth spending a couple...More

This museum clearly demonstrates how important Cirencester was in Roman times. It displays mosaics (large and of high quality for England) in a very accessible way and shows how wealthy Romans lived without dumbing down. Some new finds since we were there two years ago...More

Full of both impressive large items like the mosaic floors and tiny gems such as brooches and offerings. We enjoyed the set up which is really different, something new around each corner and a good mix of interactive and traditional type of displays so that...More

A model for any small town museum. Beautifully laid out, fascinating exhibits (the Roman section is extensive, unsurprisingly) with clear captioning and very good description boards. The lovely mosaic can be viewed from the gallery, adding a useful perspective. At the entrance is a wonderful...More

Local Roman artefacts and stunningly beautiful mosaics intelligently displayed. A great timeline shown for the early history of the area. Games and a little cafe. Well worth the modest entrance fee.

This place is bigger than it looks! We were most impressed by the extensive roman rooms, but also the dioramas of early man (and woman - ha ha) plus everything you come to expect of a good museum. Plenty of scope for educational visits but...More

A lovely museum with a lot of local exhibits and interest. The only down point is that there are a lot of schools who use this museum, which I do approve of, it does make it very noisy at times though.
