About
As one of the United Kingdom's most famous beaches, Brighton Beach is busy all year round. Cool off in the nippy waters in the summer, or take a stroll along the pebbled shore on a chilly winter's afternoon. Kids and adults alike will love amusement rides at Palace Pier, while the futuristic i360 offers views from 450ft high. You can't go wrong tucking into classic British fish and chips, but there is an assortment of casual and contemporary dining options to choose from. Top it off with an ice cream cone from one of the colorful kiosks that line the shore.

- Varma R7 contributionsA Must-visitBrighton is a wonderful place to visit with the beach and the shops. The seaside restaurants are very good and there are scores of shops catering for everyone. I highly recommend a day trip to Brighton form London or even a longer stay in BrightonVisited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 29, 2023
- BirdySheffield Green, United Kingdom23 contributionsBrightonBeach front and pier as expected this time of yesr but off the beach we encountered quite a few beggars. It was upsetting to see so many homeless but a bit intimidating having numerous approach us for money. More so as it grew dark. Not really a place for a lone traveller.Visited October 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 31, 2023

Everyone seemed very pleasant and friendly which made for a nice atmosphere. The beach is huge but the part we experienced was near the old pierVisited May 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 9, 2023
- Sandra BRichmond-upon-Thames, United Kingdom219 contributionsJust perfect for long walksWe`ve booked a 2 night stay in late October and although it was quite cold and we`ve got caught in a shower, it is just the best, if you love the Seaside. It was just prefect for us as it wasnt crowded and we could go for long walks. We`ve had a lil stormy weather as well, which was fascinating with the big waves and everything. Worth going in autumn.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten January 10, 2024
- therichastillStevenage, United Kingdom3,474 contributionsGlorious ViewsBrighton Beach is on the south coast of England and it is easy to find if you are in the city. Just head South! The beach itself is very pebbly so walking on it is a challenge. Plus if you want to build a sandcastle you will be very disappointed! Close to the beach there are plenty of things to see. There are museums, the pier, art galleries, sculptures, shops, cafes and bars. It is nice to have a wander alongside the beach and take in all the different things going on. I happened to be on the beach at about Midday and the sun was shining brightly in the sky and there were some wonderful views across the seafront. Highly recommended on your visit to Brighton.Visited January 2024Traveled soloWritten February 3, 2024
- Tabby LondonLondon, United Kingdom124 contributionsMeanwhile Down At The BeachIt’s beautiful to escape London, and Brighton is a lovely place for the day. Book your off-peak tickets in advance, and you can travel cheaply. Once in Brighton, head straight down to the sea. You could head to the deckchair section or choose any strip along the shoreline. Brighton is a chilled place, but it can get overcrowded on weekends. If you like crowds, head to Hove, which is down the road.Visited September 2023Traveled with friendsWritten March 6, 2024
- Roddy PJohannesburg, South Africa951 contributionsGreat for a long walk - shame about the decaying infrastructure of yesteryearIt’s a lovely walk along the beach and the board walk. However, the fantastic Victorian benches, shelters and the mid level walk all look very run down and decrepit - which is a shame. It’s fun to walk to black rock and the marina and then walk back on the top road and admire the magnificent houses. You can do all of this with a dog but please note the pier does not allow dogs …Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 21, 2024
- Off their PManchester, United Kingdom4,042 contributionsLots to recommend itIn a way, this isn't the nicest beach as there isn't any sound and it is entirely made up from pebbles. Once you get past this however it has lots going for it and we were really impressed. Our main day down by the beach was absolutely beautiful weather and it felt like being in southern France! A real Continental feel to it with lots of excellent bars and restaurants of an independent type which line the promenade. You can rent deck chairs, some people were paddle boarding and of course there is a pier. Something for everyone and a great place to spend a day all longer if the weather is good.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 25, 2024
- Freya B8 contributionsBeautiful but not disabled friendlyIt was an amazing experience not just the beach but entire town is filled with colour and sound. However nowhere is wheelchair accessible. I can walk a little bit with a walking stick but there needs to be more drop curbs and especially on brighton pier no excuse for the toilets to be up a flight of stairs. Most pubs and cafes had underground stairs including the north laine bizarre which unfortunately we couldn't go down with a wheelchair. Best time of my life but my boyfriend is exhausted from lifting me up onto pavements and down steps. Not many disabled toilets anywhere really.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 26, 2024

However I have noticed that since I last went it had gotten even more expensive. £23 parking for the day , £1 to get on the pier, £3/£8 each for the rides unless you buy the day band.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 1, 2024

This not just a review of the beach but of the city by of Brighton in whole,
I can’t get over how dirty and disgusting this city has become, I’ve visited this city for the past 27yrs and my last visit was pre COVID pandemic , you’d think that the city would be putting in an extra effort with safety and Hygein but instead I’ve found it to be the dirtiest I’ve ever known it. I know the waste collection people on strike but this isn’t the problem, yes there’s bins overflowing and black bags piled high around skips but it’s a deeper dirt ground in dirt, restaurants are grubby, bars are dirty and the streets are filthy, no one seems to wear masks in shops or hotels the staff are all mask free the crowds are huge with no social distancing no safety and I have never felt so unsafe. If the streets bars restaurants and facilities were clean or if there was hand sanitiser this would be a start.
From a safety point the bad street lighting, the gangs on street corners and the stink of marijuana everywhere is shocking, we came to Brighton looking to choose an area we would like to move to but have decided not to move to Brighton in fact we probably will never come back .
Shocked and can’t believe what’s happened to the city the council should be ashamed of itself

Dirty, shabby, derelict, run-down and drab. That's just Brighton, unfortunately you have to pass through it to get to the beach. I used to be a regular visitor with friends until 2010, when I realised Bomber Command had less hostile reception over wartime Berlin than a motorist in Brighton. April 2021 and, against my better judgement, I was persuaded by the 'gang' to give the beach another go. Despite previous experiences, we vowed to keep an open mind. Eight of us tried our very best to find a few positives. The air was fresh and clear, We met several pleasant folk on our walk, some interesting remnants of old beach architecture, faded glory that must have been magnificent a century ago. Another thing we liked (and we were really struggling by then) was the enthusiasm of those bold enough to enjoy activities in the sea. We were careful to avoid quite a few 'Richard the Thirds' deposited on the pavement. Being of a generous disposition to those less fortunate than ourselves, we gave succour in the form of loose cash to the half dozen or so folk who approached us, having either lost their change or needed money for bus/train fares. Late afternoon we decided to compare notes. In summary we all agreed that Brighton and its beach have changed considerably since we last travelled down. For the worse. We would have liked to visit the open air seafront bars and eateries, but had spent so much on transport and parking we decided to depart early. I'm sorry to upset the die-hard Brighton fans, but here's our honest review. The best view of Brighton is in the rear view mirror going home.

I’m not really a fan of beaches that are made up entirely of pebbles but Brighton is a different ball game from many others that do. The area west of the central pier has good restaurants, bars and arty shops and is a pleasure to walk along in good weather.
We ate in Riddle & Fins Beach restaurant (superb) and stopped for drinks and ice creams at other establishments, our grandchildren loved going up and down and we also ate lunch on the beach on a warm late autumn day.
I wouldn’t want to throw a towel down and lie on it (although I did when younger), still a great place to visit.

We went there by train on a hot weekday and it was quite an experience. I was not sure what to expect but the fact that the trains, although delayed, were not crowded put me somewhat at ease. When we got to Brighton station, I was relieved to be walking among other people with kids in a kind of big human wave moving from the station along the main street all the way to the beach. It reminded me of walking to a U2 concert in Belgium many years ago along a path that led to the concert stadium. Busy but not threateningly so, with a crowd made up of quiet people on a mission, all walking in the same direction at a lively pace, all eager to get to their destination. The high street looked great under the sun, with lots of interesting shops and eateries along the way. When you first get to the beach from the station, there is a shop that sells beach goods, including water shoes. It is a good idea to get some if you don't have any with you, otherwise the shingle kills your feet every time you walk from your chosen spot on the beach to the water (and into the water) and back. Low tide is better for swimming barefoot, as a stretch of sand is exposed when the water recedes, so you can leave your shoes by the line where the shingle meets the exposed wet sand and walk onto the sand and into the water both shoe and pain free. It is also better for playing on the sand if you are with children. There are parasols and beach loungers for hire all along the beach, and there were some still available at the time we arrived at the beach (around midday). They made staying on the beach all day bearable, considering how hot it was. We left the beach for lunch at one of the restaurants on the beach front, went up the British Airways viewing tower after lunch and returned to our spot on the beach for afternoon play in the low tide. It was hard to head back before sunset, so happy were we playing on the beach. The atmosphere on the beach front was great, and the eateries we walked past looked very inviting, so we regretted not being able to stay. We walked back to the station along the same street we had walked in the morning on our way to the beach, only this time it was stained and grim-looking. Something like a Jekyll and Hyde place.

Every time we go to Brighton, we are always so fortunate to encounter the most beautiful sunsets. It’s a place you enjoy all year round no matter the weather. Beautiful walks along the beach and the pier. So therapeutic

Brighton beach has developed massively over the last few years and I would have to say that it’s a brilliant place to have a long walk down by the seafront because regardless of what time of year you go there is so much to see. Even in the winter there are lots of small independent businesses selling all types of items, But be aware that in the summer it does get quite busy which in my opinion isn’t necessarily a bad thing because it creates a really good atmosphere. If you’re lucky enough to go at the right time of year you can see the starlings murmuration which is spectacular Occurrence. If you’re reading this review I don’t understand what that is I strongly recommend you look it up because it’s incredible to see

Brighton Beach is a very long stone beach. It's lovely and beautiful with lots to do but a few things let it down.
There is an abundance of things to do on the beach. Aerobics, zip line, table tennis, basket ball, volleyball, paddle boarding, surfing. There was also a construction area where more activities were in the building stages. It has the wonderful pier (seperate review made for all the activities there).
The British Airways 360 sky ride.
There are lots of places to get food/drinks snacks from. A very very large preposition of the eateries are fish and chip shops but there is other things like noodles, rice and harvester etc available. There is also an abundance of ice cream stalls and shops selling the usual seaside things of buckets, spades, magnets, keyring etc.
It can be a real good fun day out if the weather is good. There was literally thousands of bins around so no rubbish anywhere. The city centre with its very large shopping area and many lovely eateries is just a stones throw away too. You can really pack an awful lot into 2 days at Brighton Beach.
What we thought let the beach down was that certain areas smelled badly of urine or rubbush, also every 30ft or so you would be walking through someones hash/weed cloud.
Compared to other beach resorts I also find Brighton to be very very expensive. £30 to park for the day.
£30 for 2x fish and chips and 2 drinks.
£10 for 2 ice creams. Just an example of some of the things we spent money on.
As nice as it was, I wouldn't return to Brighton unless someone asks me to go for an occasion.

We visited Brighton for a day out as the weather forecast was good and lockdown was lifting! ☀️
We had such a lovely day. We walked from the train station to the beach, which is about fifteen minutes of shops, bars and restaurants. It was very busy and lovely to be free again after the pandemic.
We walked along the beach 🏖 front and stopped a couple of times for a drink. It was clean and bright and we loved the beach huts, many of which were being used.
We laughed at the seagulls, one of whom pinched my sons sandwich 🤣
There is loads to do on the sea front, play areas for kids, picnic areas, the pier, the beach, shops, bars, restaurant and the tower.
Looking out over the sea you can see for miles and see a wind farm which is surreal.
We had a lovely day. Give it a go 💖

If you don’t like crowds, then avoid when it’s sunny. The walk from the train station is around 20mins, plenty of shops along the walking route to pick up snacks and lunch if you prefer to eat on the beach. There are also a lot of food outlets to sit down for lunch or dinner. The beach itself is just okay. It is pebbled/stoned so wear comfortable footwear. There are also some slopes on the beach so take your time walking down. Prices for the pier funfair are quite expensive. A days entry is £30, or you can pay per ride which is about £4. I would also say bring coins with you if you wish to visit the arcade, as the cash machines charge for withdrawal. Overall nice day out, but the beach is not the main attraction.

Nice beach with good bars, restaurants and toilets etc. But be very very careful when eating on or near the beach as the seagulls are the most vicious we’ve ever experienced. We had chips taken out of our hands and saw one family attacked while eating lunch at one of the restaurant tables. Other than that a lovely beach!

Brighton UK is an largely an adult town with active night life and a few distractions for children. The beach is the most obvious and has 600 million stones all very different and worth collecting a few. The pier has amusements. The toy museum is worth a half hour and the city natural museum with stuffed animals provides exposure to world worldwide wildlife. The electric tram would be fun for children. maybe a day or two with children.just my thoughts.best wishes.
