The place is amazing it maybe a small cottage but it has lots of things inside from 2 different households their dollshouse their toys and kitchen/scullery objects. The guide is a wonderfuly friendly and knowledgeable lady and whatever you need to know she could tell you as well as a mini tour guide before you explore too.

Excellent small museum. A cornucopia. Fascinating objects and histories. Well worth a visit. Lynton in general is a nice place.

An interesting little museum, full of curios. Excellent exhibit of the 1952 Lynmouth flood and of the awesome Lynmouth to Porlock lifeboat haul.

We wanted to learn about the history of Lynton and found the museum. Very knowledgeable staff gave us a potted history and directed us around the small but quaint museum that was full of local artifacts. Well worth a visit.

What an excellent find. Well worth the visit, especially the room with "the ghost" all the rooms (although small) contain so much information you just lose yourself in the past. My husband was very interested in the Blacksmith room, as his Grandfather was a Blacksmith. Make sure you visit!!

In Lynton early September and you might think late season tourist trade would still be operating. Not the museum which still has a victorian outlook.

The Lyn and Exmoor Museum is a quaint museum in the town's oldest surviving domestic dwelling, a whitewashed stone cottage – with its own ghost! There are seven rooms, including a traditional kitchen, and it is crammed with models, photos, farm implements, toys, fossils, maritime and railway memorabilia, information about the Lynmouth Flood and so much more. It is only open from Easter to the end of October on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, but it is well worth a visit.

The Lyn & Exmoor museum is a small museum of local history in an old house (supposedly complete with a ghost) in Lynton town centre. I dare say it will seem much more interesting to those who live locally but may not be so appealing to outsiders. However, if one is interested in social history (or the Lynmouth flood disaster) and happen to be in the town with about half hour to spare then this museum is worth a visit, I would not recommend it for young children however.

Lovely place chock full of old 'stuff' from immediate locality. A must for anyone interested in Lynton and Exmoor. Get chatting to the volunteers - the one attending when we went there was fantastic and chatty being an ex farmer

Are well behaved dogs allowed in the museum?

The museum is quite small and if there are a few people there it might be awkward. Sorry I don't know if dogs were banned
