Visited on Tuesday 21st March 2023. The car park at the National Trust site includes toilets but the National Trust Shop and Tearoom were closed and being refurbed when we visited (think they are open now). We took the short riverside walk of about a mile through the farmer's fields which is signposted nearby and includes an unmanned honesty box to pay for access which tbh wasn't that special though it's listed as a famous walk. There are other longer walks detailed on the National Trust website. There is a cool Fiord to drive through on exist and an interesting drive down the valley option on the way out.

Absolutely beautiful, I have both arthritis and fibromyalgia but managed the walk to the deserted village and back! Just a bit pleased with myself!!!
The walk is mostly on the flat and apart from a few places easy walking, which I was grateful for!
Coming back we stopped at Cloud Farm for a well earned cuppa.
The valley has an air of mystery about it and you can certainly see why it inspired Lorna Doone.

This is a beautiful and massive area to explore and is ideal for walkers and dog owners. Varied scenery with woodland, farmland, river walks and Exmoor itself. There is a National Trust Car Park and café and the walks start from there.

Called here on the way to Minehead to meet family who were on their way to Devon as we were going home. This is a beautiful valley and brings the story of Lorna Doone to life. We walked up the valley, passing Cloud Farm and on to the mediaeval settlement, then back along the permissive path by the river. but there are so many places o walk, on to the church where Lorna Doone was shot, or to Robbes Bridge, but we wee short of time so finished our walk and called at the Buery for a drink before getting on our way

Lovely walking area. Great little NT restaurant with outside and inside seating. Set in gardens with the river running through it and a very picturesque double arched bridge across the river.

Saw this little bridge on the internet and as we were travelling from Minehead to Lynmouth/Lynton decided to see if we could find it. Fortunately didn't come across too much traffic on the way there and back as the roads are very narrow in lots of places. Once we got there we were not disappointed, it was lovely to see and the weather was kind.

My husband and I did this walk on Wednesday afternoon dodging the showers. It was amazingly beautiful even for non Lorna Doone fans and even on a wet and windy day.

Stunning scenery. We had a thoroughly relaxing holiday staying in the Doone Valley, in a lovely cottage next to the river. Full of wildlife and completely unspoilt.

This is lovely valley to walk up, especially if you know the Lorna Doone story. BUT if you head out onto the moor, make sure you know how to navigate as there is a lack of landmarks out there.

Although the sun was shining bright, the impact of the valley and the houses and farms seen from above was spectacular and eerie. Well worth an extended visit

Hi is the walk doable with a sturdy pram? (or I better leave it in the car?) Is the walk ok for a 4 and 2 years old? thanks

Not visited the Inn, only the area of Doone Valley itself.
