- Dawn CGloucester, United Kingdom295 contributionsGorgeous Sunday Roast one of the tastiest we've had eating out!Lovely pub tucked out of the way at the top of Falmouth's famous Jacob's Ladder. Comfortable sitting area, outside tables as well as a little courtyard outside too for sunnier days. We had Sunday roast dinner and it's one of the best we've had compared to home cooked roast dinners. Lovely amount of meat, great helping of cauliflower cheese to die for as well as other veg and roast potatoes with a huge yorkshire pudding. Plenty of gravy and again really delicious. So lucky to have this friendly pub as a local along the road from us. Do go in and book for Sunday roast it really is delicious. Spencer is cooking himself at the moment and doing a wonderful job despite not having a chef and all for a very reasonable price. We'll be back thanks again !Visited June 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 11, 2023

There's football too and just a brilliant atmosphere to soak up The staff are terrific and there's a great variety of beers wines and spirits. There halloween party is a thing of legend. The bands are brilliant with a disco to finish off. The food is rustic huge portions full of taste for the working man's palette. Sunday lunch is tremendous and you'll be hard pressed to finish your roast for sure So bring a doggy bag and revell in its taste. later . The bedroom are amazing with comfy beds and most on suite. There's a washing machine with drier and a microwave to use for your convenience. That's 111 stairs from town but a taxi is normally £3.50. which I always take. There is a stairs up to the rooms but it's worth the little climb. So be warned there's lots of music and noise bit the locals are great fun. The staff will look after you. The beer is great and you can let your hair down. Also once down the stairs you're right at the bus stops which go to Penzance or Truro plus local buses to all the lovely beaches around town. Also rail connections to Bristol and Birmingham. and Preston.Visited November 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten August 6, 2023
- Mark S1 contributionUp the ladder 🪜 …….. definitely no snakes 🐍What a place ! I’ve known about this place for 20 plus years though had never been there. Stayed here last night, a holiday “at home” … a Cornish gig at the Pavillions, good to find somewhere local to stay ….. loved the room, v tasteful decor. Breakfast this morning was lovely. Really recommend this place….. nice place ….nice people with a great vibe ….. what more could you ask for 🙂Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 11, 2023

Fantastic bar staff, but the lady on karaoke was all about sorting her mates out and mistakingly thinking she was some hot s&$*.
She was half right.
Great atmosphere in the pub. Friendly staff, clean bathrooms and the locals are an eclectic, welcoming bunch.
A treat to visit, and it will stay on our 'MUST DO' when we come to Cornwall.

We were warmly welcomed by the various staff, who were friendly and polite as well as efficient. The full English breakfast was super: very generous p, personal service and a wide choice in addition. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. Good location for walking down into town ( incline no bother for us). Would definitely visit again, thank you for a lovely stay.

Jacobs ladder..inn...now. A total revamp a brilliant place to stay.
I have stayed here before because I really enjoy the atmosphere and ambitious of the place
Now it's had a mega face lift and is even better.
The rooms are brilliant with on.suite and oh so comfy beds.
There's still live music and quiz nights plus a good variety of beers wines and spirits. Sunday roasts are available and I guarantee you'll enjoy every mouthful. THEY'RE dog friendly and kids have a good choice as well.My next visit is New Year and I can't wait.
There's also a challenge of climbing 111 stairs from town centre to the top with a nice cool beer at the top.
The bar staff are great and all forms of payments are available. My only complaint was
removal of the pool table
The menu changes every night plus the chef is very obliging where possible.
SO in short great rooms comfortable beds 1 king size. and great food with friendly locals and staff

Where do I start. Now let me tell you. Amazing bar staff - Tom is great and Caitlyn is also great and it was her first shift!! Who'd have thought. The food is wonderful thank you so much to all the kitchen staff ♡ big highlight is they don't skimp on the gravy. I've lived here for a while and I can safely say that Jacobs do the best roast in town. You can trust me on this one. They're all legends go have a visit xx

I stayed here for work on 20th May 22
The pub has a great vibe. Hippy studenty laid back which although in in my late 50s I really like. Lots of reggae playing
2 things were wrong No 1 I ordered food which was not great. I also decided to stay for work on a busy quiz night.
Pub was rocking at 10.30 when I wanted to get my head down 🤦. I have taken a star off for the food but the pub and accommodation were great with a great vibe. I don't really care if I book In a pub and it's noisy as it means the pub is doing well.
Next time I'll come for a holiday with wife and dog and do the quiz too

Hi, I am looking for places to stay in Falmouth during the NYE celebrations. We love music so this pub seems perfect, however, just wanted to know if the hill walk back from town is exceptionally steep (wouldn't even attempt the steps:))

Yes. There are a couple of other ways to get to it both with some normal steps but not that many of them

would like to book this for next year for maybe 5 couples we r a family group attending a wedding in july ,is it clean and lively ,I have read reviews but it cant b all bad ? how far from pendennis castle

HI there
Yes we get a mixed bag of reviews. Most love the place but some expect a lot more than it is.
Essentially we are a music pub with rooms, with the rooms above the bar. Hence noise can be a problem maybe on some nights.
We are approx. 1 mile from Pendennis castle. We have 2 ensuite doubles, a non ensuite triple/double (double bed and single) and a non ensuite twin. Also we have 2 dorm rooms holding 4 and 6 beds. Housing 5 couples would be tough as we do not have 5 double rooms.
Feel free to ask any questions.
regards
Spencer
