We live locally and visit often during the summer months for al fresco dining in this pretty village. The food is always good, the staff pleasant and the place has a lively vibe. Unpretentious and welcoming, I love this place!

Stopped in on wet day for lunch .
Good local pub .
Beer good.
Service and staff very friendly.
Menu for lunch hot and cold local tapas , with larger other dishes.
Can recommend shell on prawns and mackerel pate.
Small kitchen and some other dinners had to wait a short while for chef to cook as he seemed to on his own , but I think that’s a good thing , staff did explain to dinners and offered cold alternatives to speed up service.
Not expensive compared with pubs in Falmouth.
Do try the ferry , pop over for lunch if in Falmouth.
Definitely worth a visit and we would return for sure.

We walked to Flushing on a circular walk from Mylor Harbour. We arrived just at the right time for lunch.
Initially thought there would be sandwiches or something like that but the food offered was tapas focused (really pleased with that). We shared huge fish goujons, hot garlic King Prawns, mackerel pate, chips and bread. All the food was outstanding and the service very friendly. We would definitely come back.

Great local in a pretty seaside village. Excellent food, good beer and very superior service. You are made to feel extremely welcome from the off. How great to see such friendly young staff.

Went for drinks a few times whilst on holiday. If you want food get there early, by 8pm they had stopped serving. When we did have food though it was fantastic. The lamb rogan josh one of the nicest I’ve tasted. It’s tapas style and the food really is plentiful. All the ladies who worked there were all really pleasant too. A lovely find.

We went on the Thursday night for drinks and we thought we would go back another night for food. We then went back Saturday night and ordered drinks at about 8.05pm and asked the waitress for the food menu as we had been offered the Thursday night before to be told the chef had stopped doing food.... when the Thursday before we were offered the menu after 8.30pm. We found food elsewhere but very confusing as to what time they are open for drinks or food. A real shame as the drinks were reasonably priced and the staff were friendly.

Had a couple of meals at the royal standard during our stay in flushing. Pizzas are brilliant - would recommend the flushing hottie and fiorentina special!
Tapas menu was good, however same dishes on different nights lacked consistency such as the patatas bravos was lovely with roasted red peppers and sauce the first time, second had little sauce and just onions. Have been coming for many years and miss the old menu to be honest.
Service was also slow both times.

If you are exempt from wearing a face mask I would give this pub a wide berth. On entering and explaining I was exempt, not only was I challenged for proof which I am not required to provide I was also threatened with “as the owner of the business we have the right to ask you to leave for bot wearing a face mask” Who wants to be threatened when going out for dinner. THEN I was even asked why I am exempt…. As if my medical status is anyone else’s business! Never during this entire pandemic has anyone actually asked me to explain my medical history… nor be made to feel so unwelcome. Genuinely flabbergasted and baffled as to why a business would behave in this way to it paying customers. Yes businesses have a protocol to follow but a complete lack of empathy and blatant discrimination is not what I sign up for on a rare evening out. Shame as the food was pretty good and the waiting staff were super friendly… unlike the proprietor.
This business is in serious need of some exemption training.

We had those most wonderful Goan Fish Curry at the Royal Standard tonight... it was delicious and generous, I’ve not seen so much fish and seafood in one dish! Highly recommend it, lovely, friendly staff. Dogs allowed too!

Staying in Flushing we drove in past this pub and decided we would go for an evening meal. A couple of nights later we did. There were 3 of us in the party. We had a bottle of Pinot Grigio and a pint outside watching the sun go down, then migrated indoors to our reserved table. Another pint and wine later we decided on food. I had the fish stew, others had the vegetable couscous and salmon with stir fried rice. All three cooked to order, large portions and tasted delicious. One of the group had pecan pie with clotted cream for dessert and declared it one of the best she had eaten. The bill was £80 all in which I thought was great value for money!
Probably making a return visits before we go home!
