I had seen photos of various floating villages and markets on public television this was not as highly populated as I expected. The most disturbing thing is that they drink the Mekong River water, bath in it and have toilets that empty directly in this...More

On arrival at the waterfront we were quickly pounced upon by a young boat lady. We agreed to US$ 30 for 2 hours for 3 adults, probably too much as we didn't bargain hard. She lead us to a smallish wooden boat which had a...More

Look, the village was interesting, but it felt rather voyeuristic to me. Very peaceful - once you've negotiated a reasonable price with the boat woman - but only do the hour trip. Two hours was too long.

It was hard to believe the number number of people who live in houses floating in villages, anchored in the Tonie Sap river. The town we visited, near Kampong Chhnang, was laid out just like a regular town would be only with waterways providing access...More

Really liked looking around here after seeing the tourist traps near Siem Reap. Liked the little walking bridge over the inlet near the main river
