Drove to the end of of glenesk road to walk up to the falls only to find the paths taped off with notices of danger. There was no mention of when or if they will be open again, so please check with the local council...More

I was very lucky to walk the Kitkite falls track in May before it got closed again due to the protection of the forest from disease. Can not wait to have the access open again

Near the falls are several walks. We did a 2 hour round trip. Very steep incline most of the way up.

It would be great if I had known it was shut as it was a long drive to the Piha area. Other than that, I understand the reason for closure with Kauri Dieback disease destroying our precious trees there. Signage was reasonably clear but could...More

I probably saw 10,000 (and I'm not exaggerating) waterfalls in NZ b/c two day-cruises were in pouring rain. And we saw many others throughout the two islands. But, Kitekite was beautiful and memorable. An easy hike too. We did about 2 hours, but you could...More

The hike says 15 mins to the top, but it's definitely more than that especially on a hot day, it's of medium-high interested intensity and culminates in having to balance as you walk on some loose logs in the water to get to the main...More

If you are lucky enough to go to Piha & the beach then visiting these falls is a MUST. Obviously dry season won't be as good but we went today which is early spring but the waterfalls are beautiful. Their is a car park next...More

An easy walk from the stunning beach. Well sign posted path and parking. Some areas are quite slippy and need to balance over stones so not grew at for extremes of age.
