Just came off the beach, so so glad we drove in this direction today . Scenery all the way down was stunning & then when you get to the beach at the bottom, it's a gem of a place 😃

I had never been to Piha before, and thought it was so beautiful! It is such a long beach with lots of walking tracks nearby. The water was warm so I got in a couple of swims. Can't wait until I get a chance to...More

This beach is huge!!! There can be so many activities going on and never cross into each other's paths. I was there in winter so I did not get into the water, but it did seem like it could be really, really rough in some...More

40 mins drive out of Auckland, stunning beach. Don’t go swimming or surfing without speaking to lifeguards as this bit of coast can be really dangerous with big seas.

A beautiful beach with the imposing huge rock on the beach itself called the Lion Rock (which lots of people could go up and get the view of the beach). It may lack of amenities like restaurants, toilets etc but it's still a good beach...More

One of Auckland's most famous beaches. Nice, but be careful. It's also known to take more lives from the rip-tide than any other beach in New Zealand.

Piha was recommended to us by our younger waitress at our Inn as the nicest local surfing, black sand beach. She was right, it’s quiet, untouristy and beautiful. Prepare yourself for a windy difficult left sided drive ( but it’s great preparation for the rest...More

Wonderful beach but pay attention to the surf lifeguards as this beach is known for it's rip currents. Nice walks/hikes abound. Area can be popular in summer on weekends; generally much quieter during the work week.
