If walking along the beach, watching the waves crash in & surfers enjoying their passion then Piha Beach is a great place to visit. If you like a brisk climb then it offers that too. The drive down offers some Panasonic views too. Parking can...More

Been going here for many years and always love the relaxed atmosphere despite being only approx. 1 hr from Auckland. Walking along the beach, a swim, walk from Nth Piha to Whites beach (if feeling energetic) or Kite Kite falls (if not so energetic) are...More

We were there At the beach after some heavy rain so this may have caused a lot of mud to be washed down the river. But walking from the car park near Lion Rock across the beach our shoes got caked in slimy mud. On...More

Great place for a swim, walk or just out to explore. We hired a car and travelled the windy scenic drive from Auckland. Lovely day and lovely experience

A little difficult to find parking in the immediate car parks but a little walk was ok. The black sand was super hot and super soft! There are no taps to wash yourselves off. The sand gets into everyone and I'm still finding it in...More

Piha is alluring. It's got the classic blue-green, sunlit water. It has sparkling black sand (that is magnetic! be careful with setting your phones down). There's a nice, short hike in lush forest, and white foamy surf against craggy rock. The only downside is that...More

We visited Piha, about 45 min from Auckland centre, on our first evening in Auckland. The beach is stunning, with the two dramatic rocky outcrops and black sand. We had a lovely 45 minute stroll along the beach enjoying the beautiful views. The beach is...More
