To see these in person was cool. They are used as a breakwater. The only drawback to this attraction is the road down to get a close look. It is washboard for the most part.

Used as a breakwater, these decaying hulks look rather eerie. An information point along the overlooking road gives you the details of each ship and the stories behind some of them. Fascinating.

My gosh we were driving by and stopped quickly to take a look. Absolutely fascinating, you must read the signs telling about the history. Also good photo opportunity.

There is a great parking lot with a view of the Hulks just outside the Catalyst entrance. There are a few information signs there too with the story of the Hulks also.

Best way to see these is to go to the old town of Powell River - I think it was called the townsite. Near the paper mill is the best place to view the hulks, plus there are some signage telling you a little more...More

A must see when in Powell River. Not far from downtown. Good viewing pull out. Easy to get to. Just an awesome thing to see all these old boats used as a break water.

If you google Powell River, the Hulks are going to show up. So you might as well take the wander down to see them. They're beautiful old war ships that make up the breakwater for the mill. This place is going to get a lot...More
