While approaching Goarshausen along Rhine River, we saw a huge bend along the river with a huge rock (should be a hill) on the right bend and the cruise director told us several legends on this rock which the local called it Loreley. There was...More

It's a big rock that you pass as you take the Rhine River cruise. It's nice, but nothing spectacular.

Parked at the Visitor Centre on top, hoping to walk down to the rock. However while we were there, there was a lot of building work going on & the path down was closed off. There is a large exhibition of the area & the...More

When we visited, there was a closed vistor centre, a closed resutrant, some closed footpaths, and a large car park. We managed to find our way to the viewpoint over the river - there are plenty of other better ones if you take a walk...More

Loreley herself may only be a statue, but she keeps attracting attention and tourists... the story of the siren, attracting sailors towards the treacherous cliffs of Loreley is a wonderful excuse for crashing your barge. It may come in handy, so do your homework...

There are wonderful views all along the Rhine - this just happens to be one of the more famous places (=a bit more crowded). You can watch a statue of Loreley at the river, on the hill, try the sommerrodelbahn and take a nice walk...More
