It has been a number of years since my wife and I visited Barnston Island. The new highway 17 makes it a bit more difficult to access the ferry landing -follow the directional signs off #17 and you will be ok. The Ferry takes 5...More

The ferry ride there and back was fun. A drive around the island didn't take long but was a cross off my list of things to do.

Barnston Island is a nice place ,I have not been there for over a year , the free ferry is only about 4-5 minutes. Not really a ferry but a small barge. you have to back onto it when over there. The island is quaint, but...More

Close to Surrey City centre... But, quite and isolated due to the requirement to take small ferry boat to get there. The ferry service runs across Parsons Channel between Barnston Island and Port Kells. Crossing time is about 5 minutes one way. The service is...More

A short, free ferry ride on to the island followed by a good little stroll or bike ride with your pets; but PLEASE pick up after your dogs and be prepared to carry the poop bags until you get back to the ferry entrance as...More

This is an unattractive island in the middle of the Fraser River. It is only accessible by a short free ferry ride. You drive on and have to back off so if your backing up skills are not good, best not go. Most of the...More

Beautiful day for a bike ride with our friends. We parked in the lot and took the free ferry across to the island. It's a 10km flat bike ride around the island. It's very relaxing with very few cars. We returned on the ferry and...More

Pick a nice day, carry water and walk the island. Beautiful country scenery, a sandy beach that overlooks the Golden Ears Bridge and a quaint free ferry ride.

We took the Ferry over to Barnston Island. Watching the little tug boat pull the barge across the rushing Fraser River was a neat experience. When we arrived on the island, the sound of birds singing filled the air. You could no longer hear the...More

No! There are no commercial vendors here. It's an island that is residential/agricultural. There's nothing here except pretty views. And i mean nothing. No corner store even. They like it that way.
