Trail Series, Part 22
Wondering if Fall has arrived in Canada? Yep, we’d say that indeed it has!

The “Green Timbers Urban Forest Park” located in Surrey (just outside of Vancouver) offers spectacular opportunities to get out and immerse yourself in some “Fall colors” when that need strikes you.

Their numerous trails funnel you to (and around) the lake and are extremely well marked and maintained. Bicycles, runners/walkers, and leashed dogs are all welcome. In fact, we felt that most of the trails are flat and wide enough to also welcome wheelchairs and strollers.

Although we always recommend the buddy system when enjoying a trail, we found these well traveled enough to give it our highest safety rating.

For those seeking a challenge when enjoying these trails, we’d recommend trying to locate the beaver dams and their inhabitants.

There is convenient parking located on 100th Avenue (between 144th Street and 148th Street), so get out there and enjoy some fresh and vibrant Canadian air, eh? 🇨🇦

And that’s…Henry’s Take.

Great place for a walk along the path’s with a dog. A number of different routes available and so much cosy scenery as you walk through the forest.

It’s a nice place to have a walk. It’s in the middle of busy streets but it is peaceful inside. Trails are easy to walk. There is a nice lake in the middle where you can fish. There are picnic areas too.

I'm visiting from the U.S. and, during my stay, I've driven past Green Timbers several times and wondered what it looked like inside this huge forest-like park. This morning, I had an opening in my schedule, so I parked just inside the entrance on 100th. Parking was plentiful and free. There is a trail map posted at the park's entrance. To orient myself, I walked an easy trail (<1 mile) around the lake and enjoyed some breathtaking views. I returned to my car, took off my winter coat, stretched, and then re-entered the park to run the first part of the trail, then continued south to 96th. After running eastward on 96th, I discovered a winding, narrow trail that led back into the park and found my way back to the lake and, eventually, the parking lot. How lucky Surrey residents are to have this beautiful oasis nearby!

This is our favorite park near our home. Very dense rainforest, fresh air, very nice trails, beautiful lake where you can fish. A green oasis inside the city.

A lovely park in the heart of Surrey where nature trails and a stocked lake await to slow the city life to a country pace.

We are lucky enough to live close to this park and be able to walk there, walk around the lake a couple of times and take about an hour. It's so pretty, I have lots of seasonal pictures of the lake and the birds that hang out there are unexpected, mostly ducks but occasionally a heron and some cormorants.
