Spectacular church for a small town.
Aug 2019
This is a beautiful church for such a small city. It is probably the most noteworthy building in town, and is worth a visit.

Remarkable in all respects

Was welcomed by a member who gave me the Cook's Tour. A gorgeous marble structure seating 1250 minimum. Stunning stained glass but otherwise simple reverence. Crypt in basement houses remains of past bishops. I came to hear the organ in the balcony which was not in use that Sunday due to special service taking place out front. Regular Services in English at 9:15 and 10:30 in French. Weekday tours are offered.

Beautiful Church

The Immaculate Conception Cathedral is beautiful. It was located just up the street from our hotel (Four Points by Sheraton) and offers a good view of the area.

So many stained-glass windows! Wow!

This cathedral is filled with gorgeous stained-glass windows. Some of the stained-glass windows show how Jesus suffering on the way to the cross.

They had a huge organ as well. I wish we could have been able to listen to it.

The first thing I saw in this church was the golden cross nearby the altar.

In the basement was another place for worshipping. Nearby were tombstones from former priests. One of them has his statue in front of the church.

I enjoyed this cathedral. It was so beautiful and I enjoyed exploring its beauty! Wow!

Took pictures of the outside, beautiful. They offer tours inside church but we were in a hurry and could not do this.

This lovely church was next to our hotel, Four Points Sheraton. It made for a picturesque stroll and lovely view from the steps.

Beautiful!

The church itself is beautiful, but I gave it 4 stars because it was locked. I know they can't keep someone on staff 24 hours, but I so wish they had someone there on a Saturday during the day when people are out and about.

Was once the center of Catholicism in the region!

Have been attending services at this Cathedrale for over 50 years. Not as grand as other Canadian or even European town churches, this Cathedrale was part of the fabric of community. This church was overseen by a Monsignor and at one time was serviced by 5 priests. Both my paternal grandparents had funeral masses here as well as many other relatives. The organ is a treasure as are some of stained glass windows. Visit crypts as well
