It was really cool to see original buildings built from 1800's..felt like I stepped back in time. Everyone who worked there was pleasant and friendly. The price of admission is very affordable.

It was our first visit here and we were disappointed to find the train not running on a Sunday and we were not told that the steam museum was closed, after all, it is a tourist attraction. Pioneer village is nice but lacking in staff...More

Very authentic and well preserved part of muskoka heritage. It’s amazing how hard basic needs were back then...no electricity or running water...forget about firewood as your only heat source...even boiling water was a chore. I think all teens should live this way for a month...More

For Christmas, I purchased a day as a train engineer for my husband. After a few hours of training, he was on the tracks operating a steam engine. Of course there was always a qualified engineer with him. He enjoyed the day immensely. Our grandsons...More

Met by knowledgable Matt in full period costume dress, who explained all needed to know for self directed tour - to include Church, barns, schoolrooms, houses etc. Some locations were hosted by people in local period dress e.g. school teacher preparing lesson, blacksmith forging tools...More
