I traveled just south of Cebu City , to Talisay Liberation Park , on the coast of Talisay City in Poblacion , to see the Cebu historical Talisay Landing Monument

Talisay Landing Monument ( National 🇵🇭 Historical Shrine ) .. was erected to honour & mark the location of the landing of the American Liberation Forces on Cebu Island Philippines , during World War 2 1945 ... before these forces , with the helpful aide of Local Filipino / Cebu Guerrillas fought their way up to Cebu City ( these actions were part of General MacArthur’s - I Shall Return )

In remembrance of the landing , with this significant day in Talisay City’s & Cebu WW2 history ... each year - 26 March , on the now much smaller beach , next to this Monument ... a reenactment of the Talisay landing is held ... along with the recognition of the WW2 Veterans , representatives of the Philippine 🇵🇭 American 🇺🇸 & Japanese 🇯🇵 Governments attend

For myself , this Monument is small than the Gen MacArthur Landing Monument , found in MacArthur Park , near Tacloban City , Leyte ... in which I visited over 15 years ago

Larawan beach it’s a kind of public resort but they need to maintain it and clean the area, the sand is black which is fine hoping that people stop throwing diapers and plastic bottles in the area

I was expecting something on the order of a similar monument that exists in Tacloban. It was a very rainy day and the monument was under repair. It looked considerably run-down. I would have liked to explored the area a little bit more because I believe there's some Japanese pillbox especially from the war around there.

I never took a bath seeing those rubbish around the coastline and water. Although locals are very happy swimming with a very different color of water (doesn't look like beach water). It looks muddy plus a black sand. I just took picture with the statue (McArthur landing) instead. Note: They did not landed here.

It has a lot of potential but not much to offer. Although the locals do it, I would not dare go in the water. I suspect that it is filthy and muddy. The pier has statues commemorating MacArthur's WW2 landing but they are vandalized. Local food stalls and one western style restaurant is very disappointing.

The whole area is in need of revitalization.

This was the go to beach when I was a kid. So, I thought of bringing my family here one afternoon and was surprised that it's in such bad shape.

The statues of soldiers are destroyed and trash is just everywhere.

People come here not for the beach bit just drive through the lechon stalls located two blocks away.

Beach is quite dirty and should be maintained better by the vendors who make their living here.
