Glad that there's a gallery that shows distinctive art of Filipino artists nowadays (Abueva, Orlina and now Sanso). I read his profile before going to the museum and saw how his artworks transforms throughout his life. It's in their website.

I walked into Fundacion Sansó on a lazy Sunday afternoon with high expectations. Afterall, this was Sansó, a Philippine art icon. Plus, there was a benchmark of a museum set by another Philippine art icon up north of the Philippines.
The split level three storey structure had nice clean lines, wide open spaces, muted colors and a pocket back garden. Venue was considerate enough to have a few parking spots on its premises instead of just street parking.
There was a sign indicating a private birthday party event was ongoing. Was half-expecting to be turned away but I was still allowed to enter after paying the entrance fee.
And there started the strangest museum viewing experience. Think party balloons swaying and hitting the occasional art work. Hear the occasional balloon pop punctuating excited cries of toddlers running around the place. Who knows what curious innocent hands can do as they touch these colored art on the walls?
Smell the lunch buffet dishes in their flamed warmers set against a wall of paintings. To eat a heaping lunch plate a foot away from a big work of art must add to the experience.
Have you tried viewing a painting while the queue to the loo is literally beside you? See how close the 10-seater round tables can be set against the walls where the art works hang. Try viewing the art works on the wall while winding thru big round tables and scattered chairs. There is always a first time apparently.
Best spot is the small square area with Sansó's prints of people and animals. These works were a delight that he could execute them with so much expression. Thankfully, it was also the only untouched area by the birthday event.
Some works were missing titles or labels or were hung askew. The spotlighting also made some spots overly bright so as to be practically reflecting white. It does spoil the viewing -- and photo -- experience. Also, what's up with that alcove with more than a dozen, bright mono-colored busts with wired art all over each of them? No descriptions nor context as to what they were or whose they were.
BTW, for those who consider an extensive souvenir shop part of the museum experience, this museum stands apart in that regard.
Quite a laundry list aired. Good news is all these should be easy enough to clean up.
What I was struggling with was the logic on how the works were arranged across the three level display floors. I was looking for an introduction writeup beyond the small blurbs and bio but could not find any. Just as I realised there is still so much of Sansó's work beyond Brittany scenes, there is still a bit more work for this museum to truly give a wow Sansó-discovery experience.
Given the sheer size of Sansó's ouvre, you just might keep coming back as the museum plans to regularly change the first level displays according to various themes. Mental note to call ahead to ensure it is a museum that day and not an events venue.

A beautiful art museum tucked away in a little street just over a kilometer away from the Greenhills Shopping Center. It showcases the works of internationally renowned painter Juvenal Sanso plus some memorabilia on his life. The masterpieces, works of the artist throughout his career, are housed in a beautiful building just off the main streets of Wilson and P. Guevarra. It is a great place to bring family and friends for a cultural experience and an excellent destination for students of the art to gain insights to the works of this multi talented artist.

It was so interesting to see the evolution of this renowned artist through his expressionist paintings!
The museum is not big, the Sanso collection currently on display is only about 120, but they are all beautiful pieces of artwork.
There is also a Cafe Sanso which museum visitors should try.

If you wanted to use this venue for a wedding reception or any reception at all, I would suggest to look scout for more. Although the place is nice with all the art work on the wall, it is not a good place to hold a reception because it is so small that 75 guests will not fit. What is worst is the sound system because it does not work.

One of my fave museum. Showcases art exhibits by the National Spanish Artist Senyor Sanso. Curated pieces are so beautifully done and installed. Must visit. Highlu recommended. They also have a cafe (Cafe Sanso) that serves delectable dishes and drinks.
