This is the best idea you ever got! Do it!
I was sailing with Carlos and Eamon the last week of August, and was completely blown away! Leaving Denmark I had huge expectations, and every single one of them were outshined: I didn’t expect the attentive and warm company of Eamon escorting me all the way from Panama City to San Blas – and back. I didn’t expect a captain with the pure skills who got us close to the Kunas: to learn about their culture and ways of life was an inspiring dimension of it all. I didn’t expect freshly baked bread. I didn’t expect the supernatural beauty below the water’s surface. I didn’t expect coffee to be served at the exact second the craving entered my mind. I didn’t think I could have moments to myself with the horizon. I thought the everyday lobster was a cock-and-bull story. It wasn’t. I thought I wouldn’t get the attention I needed in yoga-class, being a complete beginner. I did.
I had never thought I could shake off a whole year of ‘running around in the circus’ in only one week. I could. And I still can’t believe the stars of the dark night sky – and the fantastic company of the cockpit rocking gently underneath it.
Go.

Last week we stayed on board of the Carpe Diem with Carlos (and crew). It really was a wonderful experience to sail through San Blas and meeting the Kuna people and experiencing their culture.
Each day we sailed to another island to explore the island and the surrounding waters. Carlos asked what we wanted to do each day and gave us all the space to choose whatever we wanted to do on a day. Carlos was available to go along and show some beautiful spots, e.g. to snorkel (diving is strictly prohibited in the area).
Furthermore, we ate freshly catched fish and other seafood each day. Which was very well prepared by Carlos and crew.
Do not miss out on this experience!

The trip offered by Carpe Diem Yoga and Sailing is truly unique.
I have spent years trying to find that billboard view... You know the one... Couple holding hands walking on an isolated beach with nothing but palm trees and crystal blue waters. Only to arrive and realize that the beach is dotted with hotels and lined with beach chairs, full of others trying to find tranquility, which keeps being interrupted by shouts of vendors selling everything from necklaces to club tickets.
In San Blas, I have finally found a place where there will truly be nothing to distract you from the serene beauty. Peace and quiet are at a premium here. The staff headed by Captain Carlos play perfect hosts. Always going the extra mile to put a smile on your face, whether its a fresh coconut you crave or a lobster dinner, these guys don't disappoint. The 'pulpo a la gallega' is the best Ive had!!
The days are slow and usually begin with a yoga and mediation session. For the adventurous, my fiancé and I went snorkelling, kayaking, and spear fishing, however, our favourite thing was a relaxing day on the beach in a hammock.
Kudos to Carpe Diem for providing a truly amazing holiday, which we will certainly be taking again!

I too was ripped off from this company promising me the perfect getaway.
After paying full for my "vacation of a life time" in which I saved for a long time. It all unraveled at the seams. DO NOT give Eamon ( or his business partner) any deposit let alone a full payment. There is no retreat, there is no guarantee. He will take you're money and then stop all contact with you. If you're reading this after speaking with him, and think "oh he's so sincere, he couldn't do that" , I thought the same thing. SAVE YOU'R MONEY...GO TO ANOTHER RETREAT. There is no amazing journey it is just their own self marketing scam.

I'm only writing this review to save anyone from going through what I did. I found this retreat and decided to book. Eamon was really great on email and I felt comfortable booking with him as there were so many great reviews. Just as I was about to finalize payment, the owner of this company email me to tell me to not send Eamon any money as he would rip me off as there was no retreat happening as he legally can no longer operate in this region. Sure enough, I reached out to cancel as I did not want to get caught up in this dispute between the business owners. I never heard back from these people again! They took my money and I'm out hundreds of dollars. I also met up with another girl that this happened to so I was not alone in this scam. I don't like giving negative reviews but I want to save you all from what I went through. I even filed a police report. Do not trust these people!!!

Sailing this archipelago is a perfect escape. Doing yoga on deserted beaches was truly a peaceful experience. Even though I did this trip alone, I was able to build great relationships with all the people onboard. I ate nutritious meals everyday and came back home feeling so healthy. I felt so relaxed the whole time and looking back, I am so happy that I finally got to see Panama the way I did it. I was able to get a great deal for this trip at intersailclub.com. Definitely would do it again if I get the chance.

We are a couple in their 30's that got to Carlos (the owner and Capitan of Carpe Diem Sailing yoga Yacht) thru a few friends that did a yoga tour with him a year ago. We stayed with Carlos for 8 amazing days! During these days he took us around the most beautiful islands in San Blass area. Carlos is a very special person that made us feel like we are old friends that are having a Cruz together. He is the best chef and cooked us 3 fresh meals a day (pancakes, eggs, fresh fish or lobsters, fruits etc'). Carlos took us snorkeling in the best reefs in the area. We saw sharks, turtles, sting rays and much more! On top of him being a super friendly guy he also does a lot for the locals Kuna community! He donates some of his profits to the locals and he hires a Kuna as a second Capitan.
Important to know is that the local Kuna's don’t allow doing this charter tours without there approval that most of the boats don’t have. Luckily Carlos is in very good relationship with the locals and he has their approval for the tours.
We highly recommend booking the tour with Carlos and his Carpe Diem Yacht!

I went on this trip on a whim (literally booked about 3 days before) and am SO glad I did. It was more that a vacation - it was a real retreat. Retreat from technology, a retreat from the hustle and bustle, and a reminder for wellness! The yoga part was my main attraction initially, but we had insanely good healthy food, a holistic doctor who joined our trip, went sailing, snorkeling, fishing... and HAMMOCKS... the simple pleasure of reading a book in a bikini on a hammock cannot be overlooked here. The type of people attracted to this all seem to be of the same mentality - open minded adventurer types - which made many of us feel very close even in just a week of time. I went alone on this trip but quickly bonded with everyone. Eamon is super easy-going and was awesome in answering any of my pre-trip questions.
I learned so much on this trip and honestly had a hard time coming back to reality afterward! Highly recommended!
A few tips:
- Bring lots of sunscreen. I went through a tube and a 1/2 since it's so close to the equator.
- Wear lightweight long pants to bed. My weather report said 90 degrees so I didn't pack this out of fear of being hot in the tent, but that was the weather in Panama City. The islands get more of a breeze, and if the winds die down there's some little bugs that emerge. Staying covered or putting on baby oil all makes them not a problem.
- Bring water shoes - I wore them snorkeling and my friend borrowed them the day of our trip to the waterfall. Other than that, a pair of flip-flops are handy but you'll be barefoot most of the time!
- Bring a sarong. Useful for yoga, for laying on the beach, to wear as a dress... and bring a towel for showering.
- Stay a night in Panama City the day you head back from the islands. I flew out the same day, which was fine in terms of timing and it was super nice that the driver from the trip made a stop at the airport for me. I only say this because from San Blas (Starfish Island), it'll be about an hour boat ride, then about a 2-3 hour drive, then for me, was two 4 hour flights after that. Doable, but a pretty exhausting and after a week of camping, a shower was calling my name.

a friend and I spent 1 week on the Carpe Diem and it was one the most amazing experience in my life, full different activities, excellent and healthy food, beautiful lands camping that make you feel you are in side of post card and great yoga lessons.
As Yoga lover I had never experience sailing and practicing, so it make your journey different every day. You get to share with other Yoga Lovers from other part of the world different techniques.
I higher recommend to experience The Carpe Diem!!

A friend and I spent a week on the Carpe Diem and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Everything was all set up for us from the taxi in Panama City to the boat to take us out to The Carpe Diem it was very easy. The Captain (Carlos) and his first mate Eamon were very friendly and very educated on sailing and educated on the native people. The food on the boat was outstanding. The Captain even baked his own bread on the boat! We sailed to a bunch of different islands, learned a lot about the native people and we even swam with a nurse shark which was pretty awesome. I highly recommend this charter and I think it is something everyone should do at least once in their lives! I am planning on going back on this boat very soon!.
