Very run down and you can't access much as it is roped off. Don't bother for a photo opportunity as there isn't one. We didn't visit the tower.

This is a privately owned Chateau which is not open to the public. Only the Tour de Montaigne, the historic pied a terre of Michel de Montaigne is available for visits.

Admittedly, I did not know that much about Montaigne when I visited the chateau. The French are very familiar with his writings and so this is more of a pilgrimage site for them. Having said that, it is a very interesting place on its own...More
