Firstly, you will need a car or hire a scooter/motor bike to get to the caves. Preferably get a fairly powerful bike as it is a long, windy and hilly journey. Fill your tank before leaving Pai. Leave early in the morning so you don’t...More

Came here on March 21. Entry fee 450 baht includes the compulsory tour guide which is fair enough I suppose, but the guide (a grumpy-looking older lady) couldn't speak a word of English! Apparently it's organised as some sort of cooperative or foundation and provides...More

This is well worth a day trip out if you are staying in Pai. Go on an organised tour or better still, take a scooter, the ride over the mountain is a thrill in itself. The cave system is magnificent, the local villagers act as...More

The caves are incredible, and absolutely huge!! Definitely worth a visit, but just a warning that there are a lot of rickety narrow stairs to climb.

Tham Lod Cave is a short walk from the Cave Lodge. You meet a tour guide there to talk you through the cave. In the cave they walk you through showing you a few good cave formations. You also get on a bamboo raft and...More

I loved this! Huge caves that are beautiful and atmospheric. Hire a guide (negotiate how long you will take before you pay, because they like to rush to fit as many journeys as possible in a day). Take a torch if you have one because...More

A trip to the cave from Pai takes a drive of about an hour through beautiful countryside, though we didn't get the best of the views as it was a bit hazy. The caves themselves are fantastic. Guides are local people, deliberately so to bring...More

The cave is great and impressive, huge and beautifull stalactites/stalagmites. A lot of big fishes in the river. The cave is missing illumination - it would look much better with colourful lighting. Local guides are very limited in English, they literally knows just few words...More

This is the best thing to do when you’re in or around Pai. Wear good shoes because the terrain in the caves is uneven and slippery in some places. You can go inside only with a guide equipped with a lantern (do bring your own...More

Hi Lisa, I found the village page from one of my friends. Search on FB with keyword "thamlodvillage". You'll see the black and white cave logo. It's the page created by villagers under government fund.

If you have your own transport then you can easily drive there and hire a guide for 150 Baht for up to 3 people (not per person). Depending on exactly how old your child is you may need 2 guides or they may allow just one... More
