Very interesting chateau with beautiful gardens. Well furnished interiors. Also cheap at under 9 euros pp. Photos tell the story best, but if you have watched Versailles you will love to see where Mme de Maintenon based herself.

If you travel to France and looking to visit one of its beautiful chateaus I dearly recommend you Chateau de Maintenon. Fair entry price to a great chateau with amazing grounds and old viaduct view in its back garden. A garden with the most beautiful...More

Having been to Paris multiple times, wanted to explore some smaller towns within train distance. About 50 min train ride, then 15 minute walk to castle. The town area is small but able to pick up cheese and bread at bakery and had picnic on...More

We loved our brief tour of Mme de Maintenon's home. It felt cosy and friendly despite being in the flamboyant style of Louis quatorze. The gardens are beautiful too but the amazing feature is the enormous aquaduct nestling in the trees forming a wonderful slightly...More

Enjoyed this cute little castle and its history so visited again the next year. The building is obviously old and in need of repair, which I believe is happening now. The gArden and views from the castle are stunning. Super close to the township, so...More

The chateau is under some serious renovations at the moment. Big crane in the courtyard, moat drained. It's cheap to visit because of this, but because of this you won't get any good outdoor pictures. And frankly, the inside is underwhelming. I would give it...More

Truly beutifull and obviously well cared for! The garden is lovely but too much use is made of impations and salvias and I think the planting could be more creative.

Lovely chateau and gardens in a small town. Interesting to walk around for a couple of hours, including a walk to the aqueduct. They had a selection of outdoor games out when we visited too which added to the appeal

Cute place, very calm and typical of the near Paris villages. The garden is beautiful but in the castle you can't take photos.

Hi, you can take the train from Paris (station Paris-Montparnasse). A regional train (TER) goes directly to Maintenon every hour. I advise you to visit the website of the rail company SNCF. From Maintenon station there is a... More
