About
Once a busy industrial canal wharf, Aldermaston Wharf is now a picture of tranquillity. It’s great place to start exploring the beautiful Kennet & Avon Canal.

Ideal pit stop after walk along canal
Oct 2020 • Couples
Today we were fortunate to have sun sun sun so decided to take our border terrorist to somewhere new. We parked in the car park by the cafe and walked left along the canal passing fishermen and women and even chatted to a magnet fisherman. On our return to the car we were welcomed into the Aldermaston wharf cafe and offered indoor or outdoor seating we chose outdoors and ordered tea and carrot cake which were served efficiently within 10 mins of ordering. We scoffed every crumb before leaving for home. This cafe will become a regular watering hole for weekend walks.

We had a lovely family walk around here. Very scenic and tranquil, just as picturesque as you’d expect.

Could be better
Aug 2020 • Couples
Pleasant enough. The tea room was closed, they must be missing out on a lot of business but we found a fantastic pub The Butt Inn serving great food. The canal could have been better signposted with walking information and no toilet facilities en route

Jul 2020 • Business
Popped into to ask a question about looking around a boat in view of hiring in the future and was told point blank no boats are for hire, not even asked for my details so I could be contacted back in the future, if looks could of killed I’ll be 6ft under. Maybe it was tattoos and she just stereotype me ?

Curry Night
Dec 2019 • Friends
3 great curries made for group of 10 of us - curries were high quality and plenty of it at a very reasonable price. Fantastic service from Stacey Clarke and her colleagues made evening even more enjoyable. Wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this to anyone looking for great value for money in relaxed and friendly local pub

Beautiful English country side for scones and cream tea!
Aug 2019 • Couples
The Kennet & Avon canal cafe was our starting point. Lovely cream tea, scones & cotted cream and jam! Seated under the trees and watching the boats and canal is very tranquil and relaxing. Cool breeze and sunny skies, enjoying a good English devonshire tea. After our afternoon tea we walked towards the bridge and caught the sight of a boat in the process of being transfer to a lower water level through the canal lock! What an interesting sight as the wife of the boatman worked the locks and then the bridge to let the boat through. A thoroughly interesting and scenic afternoon!

Start and finish of a Narrow Boat trip
Apr 2019 • Couples
We picked up our Narrow Boat here in lovely sunny weather. It was for a four night trip. The weather was so bad we turned back early and only did three nights. narrow Boating in good weather is probably very pleasant. In foul weather it is purgatory. We were all over seventy and though fit it was horribly cold not an experience I will repeat.

A great place to stop.
Feb 2019 • Family
We had a family visit to Aldermaston Wharf Canalside cream teas, panini's, tea's all round and ice creams were ordered for the Grandchildren, a lovely day so sat in the garden {dog friendly}. The staff were friendly, helpful and caring, when our Grandson dropped his ice cream it was replaced at no charge even though we were prepared to pay they waived the cost. Only one thing, parking is limited as they were very busy but we were able to park across the road so no real hardship, following our tea we walked along the canal checking out the barges and fishing spots, all in all a fabulous afternoon out, a real family day, highly recommended.
