Caves are interesting to visit and there's information in each cave in English, German and Spanish in addition to the French displays and guided tours. Good views and lots of info about the history and geography of the area

A good visit takes just over an hour, no tours available in English but well written information sheets to read throughout the caves.

Not far from Royan, about 18Km south on the coast road are the marvelous caves from the troglodites. Not expensive to enter, but a must see especially on a bright and dry day. The views over the bay are wonderful.

interesting site providing an historical perspective I wasn't aware of about the region. Good value for money offering plenty of great photo opportunities. No English tours when were were there (Sept), but this wasn't really a problem.

Tie this in with a visit to Meschers and the muddy but startling low tide image. Very much a sailing set with some houses with terrific locations. Probably the best little group of Carrelets you are likely to get close to. These are the wooden...More
