The smock mill was built about 1820 and was in full working order until 1926, surviving the Second World War intact. The Mill was at one time the only windmill in Kent to be listed as an Ancient Monument. Inside the windmill you can explore the rich and ancient history of the mill and see photos of the complete restoration, including the dismantling of the old structure and the rebuild step by step over the years. The Mill is set in a beautiful location, a good start or end to exploring the Kent countryside, close to Tenterden and Ashford with many more attractions near by. A brilliant muse for artists and photographers alike. Donations are always gratefully received to help keep the mill in working order.

Great place to visit but not if you have walking difficulties. The path is between two pubs and the path is dirt or mud during the wet season. There are steep stairs inside but the view is great.

The windmill was actually what we went to see, but google also suggested the museum. The route to the windmill is the (now cleared) path up between the 2 pubs. It's couple of quid to get in - but it's worth going to see -...More

Had a great time here exploring the windmill, you have to park at the pub as there's no parking on site but once done we explored the pub, that's excellent too!

Stunning mill in beautiful countryside. The mill is not difficult to find as it dominates the landscape. Parking nearby can be a small problem, but this will depend on the time of year when visited. Suggest a visit to the Six Bells in Woodchurch, where parking...More
